Hi, need some verification that cutting a 1mg pill in half and taking 0.5mg daily is enough? Like, if insee no gains in 6 months is it my fault for reducing dosage?

I say this because I feel ill on 1mg and taking half each day doesnt make me so hot and I can stick with it unlike the full dosage, plus doctors will say take the recommended 1mg per day (probably so the company makes more money) and maybe not aware of the still unproven tests about lowering dosages long term.

It sounds all a myth to me and ive read about the fact you get sides no matter what but ive also read many people say they can tolerate less amounts (like me) but I need assurance cutting these pills in half will actually have the same effects and is the finasteride evely distributed or is there a chance im actually taking less some days and more others?

hey someone usually always pulls up that graph, cant remember the exact percent but using .5mg isnt that far off from using 1mg! So i wouldnt worry about using 0.5mg if it makes you feel alot better!

I was reading on beIgraviacentre that you should not split and wondring why? Now im the even more concerned that the only dose im comfortable with (0.5mg) is uselss.

"It is also important to remember that the dosage should not be split into halves and taken separately, or any other such manipulations"

How do you define being "ill" on 1mg OP? I think I had a similar experience.

For me it was a general feeling of lack of well being. Moodiness, fatigue, lack of drive, insomia, etc etc. On very small dose it was not so evident, but still present.

Logically, even when you feel low dose is tolerable, you know that its doing harm to your health. Would you still proceed then?

There's no reason to asume you'll have less side effects on 0.5 mg, since the difference in serum DHT level is only a few percentage points. Your body only has so many alpha-reductase type 2 enzymes and with a daily dose of 0.2 mg you should already kill the large majority of them. If you really want to lower your dose you should probably go as low as 0.1 mg, althought that will most likely be less effective.
The lower number of side-effects mide be placebo or maybe the small increase in DHT-levels with 1 mg is just a bit too much for your body.
Either way it seems to me like cutting pills to save money is fine, but don't expect you're safe with regards to side-effects.

Oh and btw, taking a little less or more on some days shouldn't matter since it takes more then a week for your body to rebuild the enzymes that produce DHT out of testosterone. So taking a little less or more shouldn't have that much of an effect on your DHT levels.
I would advice you to maybe skip finasteride altogether for a few days as this is a more reliable way to measure how many side-effects you have then lowering the dose. I'm curious about your experiences.
