Is generic propecia now legal and available in US

I believe the patent law that seems to be designed to protect Merck's profit is expiring this year 2013? If I'm not mistaken, is generic propecia now available in US? Or is it in 2014?

generic 1mg has been available for years: Finpecia

I know, but Finpecia is not yet legal in United States per US patent law as far as I know at least until 12/31/2012.

You can go to a local pharmacy today and get FDA approved 1 mg generic finasteride manufactured by Dr Reddy's labs.

Dr Reddy's has exclusive rights to market it for 6 months and then other companies will follow suit.

Finally maybe the patent expiring will motivate merck to come up with something better. Right now hair loss is almost an open market no real competition besides rogain but that is more a growth tool not a way to keep hair.
