Hi, I have been thinning a lot on the top (not just my crown) of my head but my hairline is intact, I'm not sure if its balding or another issue.

Definitely balding. And yes,it is possible to thin throughout your top with the hairline remaining intact. You're a diffuse thinner and sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it looks pretty aggressive to me.

Dang that sucks at 18. You’ll be norwood 6 in a few years unless you try propecia or something

Sorry bro, you are diffuse thinning. I have the same problem. Looks like this has been going on for atleast a few years though am I right? Is this type of hairloss common in your family?

Dang, that’s harsh man.. Certainly looks like your thinning on top..

Also I have a question, not directly related to your topic but I hope someone can shine some light on this. Do miniaturized hairs always mean you’ve started to bald? I often see miniaturized hairs between the ones I shed, but my derm keeps talking about ‘the amount of miniaturized hairs look healthy for someone my ages’.. I highly doubt that.

Hairs start small. It doesnt need to be miniaturized hair. Friend of mine has straight hairline and allot of small hairs but you can clearly see they are all new hairs and not miniaturizing.

But are you talking about the smaller hairs on his head or about the ones he sheds? Because I understand that hair starts small, so everyone has smaller hairs on his head as well. Only thing is, they are in the growing fase and don’t normally fall out right?

Looks iffy, get a dermatologist oppinion my guy and you'll be able to work on a plan....it could be a hormones issues or thyroid and if it's mob get on finastride and I think you'll get back what you lost since it's recent...don't stress to hard. Good luck
