you need to read the site a little bit. If you're serious about keeping or regaining hair, you'd be serious about doing a little research right here at this site. You already notice side-effects? That's great, im happy to hear that. It means you're responding and things will go back to normal.

Finpecia? Im not too well versed in Finpecia, but it has the active ingedient as Proscar and Propecia as far as I know.

You're not kidding yourself, because im 30 and have been slowly losing hair since I was 17 and at 2 and a half months of taking treatments, my hair became a good bit thicker.

It's a month later now and my crown is filling in as well as my temples. vellus hair is everywhere all over the crown and on the hairline (temples). The stuff works!

In fact, it looks like im going to have temples that I havent had since I was amybe a kid. I sure as hell don't remember having hair where my new 'phantom' hairline is coming in. Time will tell on that.

I have done quite a bit of research that is why i posted. I have even been to a hair Doctor for advice. From what I have read finasteride. is a coin flip and works best on crown area where I have good thickness already. I have also read some horror stories re: sexual side effects... I have seen toomany posts stating that after years of use their hair is worse then ever too.

no offense to you wangho, but i find this attitude of completely dismissing side effects or even claiming that they are a good sign that the treatment is working a little disturbing.

jamjr: i think if your main concern about propecia is its efficacy, then i would definitely stick with it for at least 1 year. the majority of people stop their loss with propecia for a number of years. so even if it 'stops working' and you wind up back where you are now when you are 40 you'll be much better off than otherwise.

that said, from my experience it's just not a good idea to screw around with sexual side effects. some people do seem to get over initial side effects, so if they don't bother you too much then you might be willing to wait it out a month or two to see if this happens to you. but i was only on propecia for six weeks and from about week two on the side effects got progressively worse (with some oscillations in there). and though i was only on propecia for 6 weeks it definitely took a few months to return to normal. for me, those few months really shook my confidence and that is something from which i still haven't completely recovered (a few more months later).

in the end you have to decide whether it's worthwhile to you to play around with these types of side effects. and that will depend a lot on your personal situation: relationship status, severity of side effects, etc...

I had side effects for the first month or so too, but I kept with it. The body's defense mechanism has a way of fixing and normalizing things. Most people seem to experience mild sexual side-effects that subside in due time, and then everything goes back to normal.

Hell, im more afraid processed foods than I am finasteride.
