Is it OK to NOT shampoo for a day or two each week?

Hey guys,

Bit of a general question here. I have always thought it was a good idea to give my scalp a break every so often and skip on the shampooing on a Saturday or Sunday etc when I don't have anywhere to go (and on occasion I've skipped both Sat and Sun). I've noticed on some posts however that some guys are reporting that when they don't shampoo every day they will often get a shed.

Anyone have any thoughs on this? Personally I think its healthy to let my natural oil levels build up a little once in a while.

Sure, my scalp has been healthier since I started shampoo'ing less than every day.

yea yea guys I'm serious here :) My dad used to shampoo his hair when he was older about twice a week and even in his 70's he had zero hair loss at all.

shampooing helps fight non-male pattern baldness. sometimes sebum can block hair follicles if it isn't washed out.

Do you have any proof/evidence of your statement? I believe that you are wrong.

I had dermmatch in my hair and american crew fiber, didn't wash it out for two days and on the third day I experienced a pretty big shed. Then i went back to my normal routine and it was fine....wierd eh. I think it's just because the hair that was supposed to fall out over the course of two days didn't, but instead came out out together when i showered... who knows.
