My only issue is that I was on Finasteride for a couple years and it seemed to work pretty well and I also noticed that the body hair on my chest and shoulders was a lot less. I've been on dutasteride since february and noticed a lot of shedding and also an increase in chest and shoulder/arm hair and also pubic hair. Does this mean finasteride was working and dutasteride is not? I heard that dutasteride also halts body hair but it seems to not be the case with me.

Assuming both your finasteride and dutasteride are genuine, (in my case, I'm 99.999% sure both of mine are genuine), I'm also very puzzled why finasteride seems to work better. I've made the switch 2 years ago, I've lost quite a lot of hair in the frontal area, only recently started to grow back. If that was a shed, that was a very nasty shed!

How could that be, dutasteride inhibits type-2 better than finasteride, in addition to inhibiting type-1 also!

It also doesn't make sense to say some genes respond to finasteride better than dutasteride, while others respond to dutasteride better, because both finasteride and dutasteride are designed to work with standard type-1 and type-2 5AR enzymes. If your genes are slightly mutated, both finasteride and dutasteride should not work.

The only explain I could come up is that, dutasteride raises Testosterone more, and testosterone promotes facial oils, and facial oils somehow interfere with hair growth in the frontal area.

There's no question that the Dutasteride im taking isn't genuine. I use the pharmacy at walmart and thats also where I used to get my finasteride.
Another thing to note though is that my body hair is getting thicker and there is more of it on Dutasteride as opposed to Finasteride where I had little body hair on my shoulders, stomach and pubic region.
My doctor instructed me to take the Dutasteride MWF since February. I did that up until last week where I read that this dose isn't that good. I just went against what she said and now im gonna take it everyday. Im gonna call her tomorrow and ask if shell actually increase the dose.
Also are you sure it raises Testosterone more? I read that it just decreases the amount of testerone that gets converted into DHT so it doesnt necessarily increase it but theres just more left over than usual.
