Is It Possible That My Dht Was Too High?

I have had a very positive experience with propecia since I started it 2.5 years ago, not just because of it stopping (and reversing) my hairloss, but also a host of other positive side effects. My previously low sex drive is now at least average. My hyperhydrosis is a thing of the past. And my skin is no longer greasy. Could all these things have been effects of having too high DHT? Is it possible I was losing hair because I simply had too much DHT rather than follicles that were too sensitive to it?

Also pre-finasteride I had issues with years of depression going on and off antidepressants which cooincidentally stopped at the same time I started finasteride. Haven't had a single depressive episode in the last 2.5 years. It could be jumping the gun a bit to say finasteride has helped with that but all of this would make sense if finasteride has unexpectedly balanced my hormones to more acceptable levels. Hyperhydrosis, greasy skin, hair loss, depression and sex drive can all be linked to DHT/testosterone imbalances... So I think it's interesting.

Finasteride is not suppouse to affect the skin. Might be the rise in estrogen. Men still need estrogen, but too low is bad and too high is bad.

Everyone responds different to these drugs. Huge wide range of different responses due to individual chemistry. A lot (all?) of anti depressants have listed side effects as "depression" due to some people getting more depressed while on the meds, while others had complete reversal of their depression.

Same is true for finasteride, you're messing with your chemicals in your body and no two people have the same level or response to these chemicals. There is a bell curve obviously where the majority of people respond well but even in that curve people still have all sorts of different smaller positive and negative reactions.

In your case its been nothing but positives! Thats good! I'm hoping for the same for me when i start taking finasteride, i havnt officially pulled the trigger yet. When i do i intend on starting off very small... possibly .5mg every other day and very very very gradually increasing it.

Anyways im really glad youve had such great results.

Does the level of DHT vary by people or is it the sensitivity to this DHT that varies? Good question

Supressing DHT has big effect on skin.

You are the one spreading bullshit. Finasteride inhibits type 2 and is not found in the skin. Type 1 is though. Thats why I said it might be the raise in estrogen that caused it. If you read the forum you'll see reports of both better and worse skin after using finasteride.

??????????????????
I dont get it.
You know how Supressing DHT works?
Ok - Lets try another way. Why finasteride is sometimes prescribed by derms for people with acne. Dont even argue with me if you dont have right. Just do some research and try to gain atleast some experience with this drug.

Go-ahead, post one studie that says finasteride affects the skin. Im not saying you're wrong. But type-2 DHT is not found in the skin. If you read my message one more time you'll see I mentioned estrogen. You know that estogen has a impact on the skin, right? Your estrogen rises while taking finasteride. There are people who get acne while using finasteride aswell.

Bigbone, finasteride firstly wasnt also for treating male pattern baldness. Anyway, doesnt matter if type 2 is no showing in skin. Whatever you want to say, finasteride has effect on skin in every way. Since DHT is response even for sebum - it needs to have effect. Last thing i wanna say why i react like this.

There are lot of people here talking teories without experience. Cheers

Ah, last last thing. I am arguing cause finasteride did a lot for my skin.

You don't know what you are talking about.

It does matter. There is also no proof that finasteride is good for your skin.

How would you know if I have any experience with finasteride or not?

My skin gets clear the day after drinking alcohol. Alcohol is good for the skin, FACT.

actually you won... finasteride def does something positive to the skin.. it's the bad responders who get oily/acne which is a subset of all users and is less likely to happen rather than the positive benefits it has on skin.

Try to argue with new people who want to shine trying to suggest something based on reading some story threads with 0 total practice and experience and f*****g basic knowledge.

Its better for your nerves just to give a forfeit. Joey.
