Hi guys,

I have been on finasteride 0.5 mg per day since October 2019.
Switched to 1mg per day in December but recently stopped due to sides (no sexual except watery semen but I started to have some anxiety attack come ups at work which made me paranoid it was the finasteride)

Anyway a week ago I switched back to 0.5 mg a day.

My question is, is it possible to go through growth during shedding phases? I have been losing my hair rapidly since June 2018, and since hopping on finasteride it has not improved infact I feel like it has become worse as I see more hairs fall out in the shower every morning and night. On average I lose 30-40 a day compared to 10-20 in the past.

However I have told friends and family about my finasteride use, they all seem to think my hair looks thicker. My hair also sort of seems thicker to me too, but it's strange to me because I am a diffuse thinner?

I'm aware that when you shed you lose the hair follicles that were already weak and about to fall out anyway. Does this mean stronger ones have potentially grown in it's place?

Please share any of your experiences and thoughts.

Thank you!

I’m a diffuse thinner also and have been shedding since I noticed in late July last year. Hairs a ton thinner so I don’t think I’m having any regrowth. The theory is that thin, damaged hairs will come back as stronger hairs if you’re treating it. Maybe thats what’s happening in your case
