Is it wise to wash with nizoral when im losing 40hairs each time

Ive been taking 0.25mg finasteride each morning and washing with nizoral 1-2 times a week,

i dont wash my hair any other times, as it doesnt ever look or get dirty/greasy

every time i wash/massage with nizoral i see approximately 40 hairs on my hands,

now i dont really shed at other times, most ill see on my clothes is one hair now and then, a otal of 5 hair a day approximately,


So im thinking is it even worth washing/massaging my hair with nizoral once a week as im losing 40 hairs every time i do

id still have those 40 hairs if i didnt wash with nizoral

Any opinions?

I was using nizoral every other day for about a month and I noticed an increase in shedding plus the texture of my hair was always sh*t..i would also got like a red sort of rash on my forehead, but it didnt itch or anything so i didnt think anything of it....since then i've gone back to uising T-Gel and only use nizoral a couple times a week maybe and my hair texture has gotten better. I'm not sure if i'm shedding as much though because my hair is shorter now so its hard to tell if its decreased or not

Maybe nizoral is a bit harsh for you. Try a piroctone olamine shampoo instead, its proven to be just as good as nizoral

- Dry hair
- Greasy hair
- Sensitive hair
- Therapeutic shampoo

Which one is best for hair loss? and also using with finasteride


would it be advised to stop using finasteride immediately based on the fact i lose about 40 hairs with each wash?

no def. dont stop using finasteride...lots of people shed while taking finasteride...plus youre taking a pretty low dose, and i dont know how long you've been on it but, people who take even 1mg tend to shed for the first few months still, or thats what i gather from things i've read at least.

I'm not an expert but I would think the .25 mg isnt going to completely stop your shedding

I use t-gel extra strength, although its not the same type of shampoo as nizoral...but in my opinion t-gel is better for dandruff and dry scalp. nizoral dries out my hair and make it feel like sh*t...it also dries out my scalp. Pretty much every shampoo i've ever used (doesnt matter if its moisturizing shampoo or whatever) dries out my scalp...t-gel is the only one t hat clears up my scalp completely and doesnt dry it out.


edit: i want to add that in the month that i was using nizoral every other day, my hair did feel and look thinner/weaker to me. Now that i'm back on t-gel im still shedding but my hair looks and feels much better.

we only get one choice in the UK and that is T - Gel brown looking stuff,
used it once so far, really cleans the scalp,

nizoral seemed to make no difference on my actual hairloss, I would only use it if it helps keep dandruff or itching away

You should wash your hair daily and at the night. It will help. I don't recommend using nizoral daily. Rather too excessive to the head as it does dry out the hair.

As for losing massive amounts of hair, are you excessive rubbing the hair?

You should mix shampoo's with nizoral.

no i dont wash excessively massage the scalp with the Nizoral,
and in my last was h with nizoral there was 60 hairs on my hands after massaging the nizoral into the scalp,

now if im losing 60 hairs with every wash thaty is crazy!!


So does anyone know which T Gel i should get to help with the inflammation/hair loss out of these T Gel shampoos:

- Dry Hair
- Greasy hair
- Sensitive hair
- Therapeutic
