Is My Hair Looking Thicker From Finasteride?

Ive been taking a topical finasteride/minidoxyl formula for the sides of my head as the hair was thinning. Ive been on it for about 2 months. i had no hairline recession before the drug, however, i believe it has been making my hairline recede (which i heard happens while initially on the drug) but I'm beginning to believe the general area of hair loss has been recovering.

The first picture is from yesterday and the last 2 are from october. Does it look like my hair is looking thicker or is it just because my hair got a little longer?

(note the second picture got sent twice, sorry)

it doesn’t even look like you have hair loss. if the sides were thinning that’s probably not male pattern baldness. do you have better pics?

Could be the beginning of male pattern baldness though your loss is very minor making it difficult to tell. Your situation is a lot like mine, I'm 20 sitting in the same boat contemplating whether or not I should start treatments. Imo I think you started using finasteride a little too early because at this point in time, it's almost impossible to tell if that's male pattern baldness or just your hair naturally changing as you still have a thick Norwood 1. What's the family history like?

I definitely have male pattern baldness. i know the sides of my head were getting thinner a couple months ago because i always parted my hair to the side and never noticed thinning before. The dermatologist even confirmed i had hair loss. But if its not male pattern baldness, what else could it possibly be?

My father is completely bald while my mom's side has decent hair. My grandfather managed to maintain his hair very well throughout his life time and my uncle has a full head of hair. my grandfather on my dad's side however did go completely bald, but he didn't start losing his hair until maybe is mid 30s

(Im 20 btw)

Hello

What type of topical finasteride you use? Just make sure if you're not allergic to any ingredients in topical finasteride formula. If you're in early stage of using this stuff that could be a intial "shedding".
