Is My Shedding Of Hairs In The Shower Normal?

Hi, I've recently chanced upon the possibility of hair loss and I've started to notice that I do shed quite a number of hairs when I'm in the showers, around 20 to possibly 40 strands of hair, some of which are thick hairs and a number of them being thinner and more fine. I understand the finer hairstrands are likely to be miniaturized hairs. However, is the number of hairs I shed in the shower normal? I'm currently using Nizoral 2% every 3 days, and I'm thinking of jumping on Finasteride soon. I'm a 20 years old male.

Hi aceofspades117!

To answer your question, that many is not normal. I used to shed that much as well. Just over a year ago I worked as a hair specialist for Advanced Hair Studio and they taught me a lot of things about hairloss including how to sell a non working treatment so clients. So I wouldn’t suggest any of their products. I quit a few months ago because I found a cheap and easy treatment that works for me and I wasn’t alowed to tell my clients about it.

What I’m going to tell you now isn’t a sales pitch or anything and it does work out really cheap. So before you even consider continuing with Nizoral or Minoxidil or anything, just try this out for a few weeks and see how it goes.

Take your normal daily shampoo, whichever you use, and buy a small bottle of Peppermint Oil (essence). Put 10 drops for every 30ml of shampoo in the bottle and shake well till all is mixed. You’ll see the texture of the shampoo is a bit more runny, but not too much. When you take a bath or shower, take a generous amount of shampoo and massage into the scalp. After a minute or so you will start getting a tingling feeling from the peppermint. It doesn’t hurt or anything and you do get used to it. Leave the shampoo in till that feeling goes away and rinse out. Do this everyday whenever you take a bath or shower. Doesn’t matter morning or evening.

It is a really cheap thing to try. I went from shedding about 20 hairs to 2-4 maybe if not 1. And I can even see new hair starting to grow on my receding hairline.

Again I’m not selling you anything, but this is really worth the try. It also makes your hair feel really soft and healthy.

The amount that I shed, and have been shedding for a good year or two is so so much!! I genuinely don't understand how i'm not slick bald! I recover about 1/3 of the lost hairs and put them in a box in my draw like a psychopath, and you could make a wig out of it! I'd estimate I lose about 120 hairs per day. I can only assume i'm still growing new hairs to explain why i'm not completely bald?
