HI guys, I started using Rogaine foam almost 3 months ago, for my diffuse thinning. I not experienced a lot of shedding, I think because at first I started using Rogaine once a day everyother day, then once day everyday, slowly work my way up to twice day everyday.

I am a bit disapointed because I hear of people who get great results within 2-3 months, and I not noticed much at all. I feel like my shedding is slowed some what. I know it takes long time to get results which you would be happy with, so I will stick with it, I just hoped I would one of the few who see great results with in few months.

So anyway, I was in the bathroom and I looked at my hair really close to mirror and under bright light and what I saw was bunch of really small blonde hairs everywhere which I can't see if I back up just little bit from the mirror. Now is this the sign that Rogaine is starting to work or that's just what looks like what you are loosing hair. Thanks guys.

Keep an eye on those hairs for the next couple of weeks and see if they get any longer or if they just stay the same size. Also If I would use the recommended amounf of rogaine. If you are to grow youre hair back you're gonna have to shed at some point and sometinmes several points before you see a great increase. It takes quite a bit of time.

alex by shedding, how much hair were u losing, was it just normally running ur fingers through ur hair, applying minoxidil , or shampoos, im in the same boat, diffuse thinning and been on rogaine foam for 2.5 months also nizoral for 2 months and saw palmetto for 1 week. i've got little black hairs, my hair is black, growing on the hairline which i can only seen when close up to mirror like you.

those little hairs seemed same length for last 2 months and this week just noticed they seem like they are longer.

is you new hair same colour as the rest.

yeah hey guys...ive been on rogaine foam for just under 2 months. i went on cause i had a horrible, 8 month long shed from accutane. also have a slight receeding hairline up in the temples...but the tane really did a number on my hair, diffuse hair loss...even from my donor areas (sides, etc.) so started rogaine shed about a week and half into it. dont hardly lose hair in the shower...mostly when im applying the rogaine, and more so at night. from early on...i noticed small hairs growing in towards the center of my hairline, those have actually filled in quite nicely. right now, under the right light...i see very thin hairs growing in at the temples. i noticed them a few weeks ago, theyre getting a little longer, just a little darker, but nothing holy sh*t yet. shedding has calmed down a bit but im still losing them when applying and notice a lot of thin, short, shitty hairs on my pillow. im hoping those are the ones that needed help and are responding the best. anyways, id like to keep up with somebody and how things are working for them. im waiting for something intense to happen. i wanna see the diffuse areas fill in...probably too soon to tell though. alright, first post here...plan on posting more. great forum, ive been checking it a lot lately. see yall.

different people has different reaction to minoxidil. My Advice is don't compare...just hope that your hair will come back. It's not even a competition for you to compare.

I have been using saw palmetto for about one year and nizoral for about 6 months. I have noticed more shedding before I started using Rogaine, and little bit during first 2 months. I would notice few hairs on my fingers after applying minoxidil, but not so much anymore. Before I started using minoxidil everytime I would put my fingers through my hair I would see some shedding, few hairs here and there.

Now after almost 4 months I have notinced that my hair is not shedding so much. Like I said before I can see bunch of small blond hairs growing and getting longer, but my hair colour is brown. So, that hair that I can see really up close is nothing comparing to my rest of the hair. Hopefully it would continue to grow and become darker.

I am going to wait another 2 months or so and then I will try finasteride as well (don't like the sides effects from finasteride but I will give it a try, maybe I will get lucky and its not going to be so bad).

Not many people get results after 3 months... many guys get disappointed about not seeing results straight away, but yeah, you just gotta stick with it. Basically anywhere between 4 and 18 months is when you can start expecting results, and sometimes even up to 2 years.

Yes, good advice... but don't count on actually seeing a difference with these hairs week to week. They could take many months, and several hair cycles to start growing longer than 3mm... So don't gauge your results just on these tiny hairs. I've been examining my vellus hair patches for over a year, and they're only just starting to get longer now.

Best is to just stay regular with your treatments, be optimistic and get on with the other things in your life. Do keep an eye on it of course, but don't get too obsessive about checking your hair or expecting to be seeing results in a certain amount of time - that will just lead to frustration. Regrowing hair can be a painstaking journey... definitely not as easy as they made it sound on the Ashley & Martin commercials... or on the instructions that came in the Rogaine box.

If you're going to get on finasteride down the track, you may as well do it straight away. That way you're giving it your best shot. Saw Palmetto is of little value in the hair loss department... I can understand if you're ummin' and ahhin' about it though; I hate the fact that there's so much bullsh*t involved with finasteride - so many for, versus so many against... it's not very encouraging actually - I still have mixed feelings about the drug. So far so good though :)

Good luck with your treatments anyway.
