Is Stress A Trigger For Male Pattern Loss?

As title says, is stress known to be a trigger or exacerbate the condition?

I say this because;
A) My dad had a real good head of hair with maybe like NW2 until his late 40s until he was knifed in the head. The resulting surgery and hospital stays and obviously high stress/trauma saw him lose his hair very quick.
B) A family friend went through divorce and the aftermath saw him lose his hair.

What does everyone think?

Absolutely! Stress, if sever enough can trigger what's called a Telogen Effluvium. This can shift between 30 to 50% of all your hairs into the Telogen phase for a period of several months. If someone who is genetically predisposed to male pattern baldness triggers a Telogen Effluvium it could cause a rapid cycle of loss. This is one of the reasons why you see a lot of people complain about their hair looking worse before it gets better while on DHT inhibitors.

Yeah but keep in mind genetics are the number factor. Guys that are not destined to bald keep there hair after very stressful situations.

As far as male pattern baldness is concerned, nope. It is written in your DNA when it will strike. But unfortunately the reverse is damn true...
