Is there any difference between Propecia, Proscar or Finpecia?

Hello guys I am new to this hair loss journey and here to the forums as well. I am 19 suffering from the early stages of hair loss. I am curious is there any difference between Propecia, Proscar and Finpecia? On one of the stickies in the general hair loss section of the forum it says "Get generic Proscar (have your doctor write you an RX). Proscar is 5mg of Finasteride (propecia is 1mg of Finasteride)"

So basically it says Proscar is the same as Propecia, but it 5x stronger (since it has 5mg instead of 1mg) and Proscar is also much cheaper. I could just get a pill cutter and cut Proscar into quarters.

So i got that part down but is Finpecia literally the same thing as Propecia as well? I believe the Finpecia pills are 1mg just like Propecia (correct me if im wrong) and when I checked the pharmacy prices they are literally almost half the price of Proscar which is MUCH MUCH smaller than the price of Propecia.

Okay well sorry to drag that all out. Just wanted to let everything out there that I know so far on the 3 pills.

Any feedback is appreciated! Thank you!

Yes to the above. However I personally don't recommend buying pills online that don't require a doctors prescription and that aren't from a in person pharmacist. You live in the states. Get a rx plan at Walgreens and Get a four month supply of finasteride for $10. It will be proscar that you cut in 4ths. Have your doctor write the rx for 1/4 proscar. Done deal.

Go for proscar. It's a 5mg pill that can be cut into 5ths/4ths. It's like, what, $30 for 150 days of supply?

Standard propecia is expensive as hell. Ranging from $100-$120 for 30 pills. No joke.

Generic is a little cheaper- $70 for 30.

I mean any should. There's a solid chance that they have never heard of it, but as long as you tell them it is important for financial reasons, it's the exact same thing (finasteride), you'll dice it up to whatever amount, yada yada, they should prescribe it. I don't know what fee you're talking about though. There's two that will go down during the whole process. The initial amount for the check up- should be like $25. Then there's the one you pay at the pharmacy for the actual prescription.

How many dermatologists will prescribe proscar? Will they just charge you their fee, and then decide after that whether they give you one or the other or neither, with only the fee being guaranteed?

thank you both of you guys.. and 11 years on finasteride and also texas could I just ask you both to help me out with one quick post I had? Ive seen you both here before and it seems like you're pretty knowledgeable on the topic. Basically this is the post: http://www.gourmetstylewellness.com/interac...uld-I-use-the-Big-3-at-this-age-and-condition

all im asking really is at my age (19) and condition (pics on the post) should I just go on to start the big 3?... or should I just use parts of it like finasteride alone? I have an Norwood 1.5 hairline that has a some decent thinning to the left side, and small patches towards the crown which are thinning as well. I keep hearing people say I should just go on finasteride and that it will (restore my hairline) but I dont see how that makes sense since finasteride only stops DHT to the scalp.. it can't regrow hair right? Theyre saying I should wait on the minoxidil at the moment. Could you both comment on that post I linked and help me out with that? It would help so much.. Thanks!

I think you should. I started thinning when I was 18 and jumped on everything. I'm your age now with no sides other than regrowth/thickening. Go for the Kirklands liquid minoxidil

Edit
Wait you have patches of missing hair? That's not male pattern baldness my friend. You'll be needing to go to a doctor for finasteride, so in the end you'll find out for sure what's up.

Yeah go ahead with The 3. Check out my log man. My results are really becoming more apparent with liquid minoxidil compared to the 6 months I was using the foam

Where's a legit place online to buy Proscar?? Im afraid of getting something fake.

I went to my dr to get a prescription and he wouldnt do it! :( He said that it's insurance fraud for him to prescribe a drug thats not for its intended use just so that I can save money. He didnt want to get in trouble. He prescribed me propecia instead.
Went to see how much it would be to fill the scrip and it's $52 + tax for a month supply!
