Is there any hope it will come back? (with pictures)

Hi guys,

I need your help and any input from the regrowth/rogaine veteran.
I am 31 years old, and had slick bald crown before the treatment. I am on Proscar since a year and started rogaine foam September 2007.

Proscar did good job in maintaining what I have. At the end of October 2007 I had excellent regrowth in the crown. But unfortunately this didn't last for long as I lost almost all of it by the beginning of December 2007.
Please see pictures and let me know what do you think? Should I continue with foam? I am confused :(

To summarise: I had good regrowth by the second month mark on foam and since then I lost all regrowth till today (4.5 months on foam)

Yes, stick with the foam. You have not been on it long enough. You may have seen regrowth during the second month, but keep in mind that the growth cycle of the new hair is still short as it would be on someone with male pattern baldness and it has probably already shed again. Your hair is buzzed so it's the perfect environment for maximum absorption of the foam. It will grow back and each time it should come in thicker and longer.

Good luck

Thanks beaner, fingers crossed, I hope that the new hair will not get miniaturized during each cycle and then vanish eventually putting me in my initial state.
I now understood guys in this forum when they describe this battle as roller coaster ride! :)

You're on finasteride as well, which should control further miniaturization (for a while at least). Trust me on this one. finasteride/minoxidil are a killer combo and I'm sure you'll be pleased in a few short months when you see results. Yes----it certainly can be a rollercoaster ride, but just be sure to stay strapped in!

Yeah, my sense is that this sudden loss of your regrowth is the notorious Massive Shed that seems to happen on Rogaine, and the foam especially. If so, that means that if you stick with it, your hair will come back even stronger. Since you seem to have just about all of the hairs on your crown still present as vellus hairs, my guess would be that have a high potential for strong regrowth.

I noticed the red bumps on your scalp. Were they there prior to minoxidil application?

I would recommend using nizoral or piroctone olomine it might help with the scalp bumps. My scalp looked similar to yours and i have been using emu oil and nizoral and it cleared up my scalp pretty well.

I think your a great candidate for foam. Just be prepared to stick with the applications twice a day everyday probably for the rest of your life. It can feel like a little bit of a chore at times, but the results are well worth it. You will need to give it 12 months to see results. My crown is almost completely filled in now as a result of foam and I can easily conceal the area with hair thickening products so hair my hair looks totally normal from the back.

Remember your hair is also very short. You would be surpised how much better it would look with a little length. But for now keep it short for maximum absorbtion of the foam so you can get a little head start.

Guys, many thanks for your support and input, I will stick with the foam for a few more months and see how things will turn.
Bumps on my scalp go and come irregularly (the same before and after foam) as a result of me shaving my head to skin, and usually I try to squeeze few zits there which show hair stuck inside!

I see, I was just asking to see if you actually got them from the foam.
