Is this a solid plan.....my regiment

Like I've stated in previous posts. I have yet to get into a serious regiment.
I've tried a few vitimins and home remedies to no avail. It's time I started putting some real effort into this.

I'm looking for any input as to anything I should add or remove from my plan. In case you don't know, my hair is thinning by the temples and is working its way around to leaving a small patch in the front .My hairline is receding slowly from the forehead back as well.
It's not terrible, hasn't reached that point yet. It's still managable and some days looks fine. I need to head it off

Vitimin B6 daily
MSN 1000mg supplement daily
Saw Palmento daily
Vitimin B complex every few days
Proscar daily
Wash with nizoral shampoo twice weekly
Revivogen Bio-Cleansing Shampoo and conditioner every other day

I was also considering some life brand rogaine as an extra boost every few days. Gonna try to kick the smoking habit finally and change my diet to heathier.

I have a little money saved so I am going to buy a few months worth of everything so I don't end up running out unexpectadly.

I'm a little concered about taking all these supplements, can anyone shed any light on it? Is it dangerous?
Also worried about side effects, what can I expect?
Lastly does this seem like it will work for me, how long b4 I see results and will it last? I keep my relatively short( the front doesn't seem to grow as long as the rest) I'm hoping that I will be able to have it grow a bit longer so I can part it and comb it over to the sides.

Hey thinning esteem,

your regimen doesn´t look bad. I guess the "MSN" is actually MSM. Most people who use it recommend about 3000 mg instead of 1000. Also Saw Palmetto is basically a waste. It is about 100 times weaker than 1mg of Finastteride. You don´t need that. I personally recommend 5mg of Biotin every day. It is said to be very good for your hair. I have noticed less shedding since I am taking it (might be coincidence though). Apart from that there are many other supplements left who can be a good addition to your regimen. (Green Tea Extract, Selenium, Flax Seed,....)

There is nothing dangerous about these supplements. Rather the opposite, they will improve your general health.
You can expect nothing concerning side effects. Most people don´t get any, if you do get some you just stop. They are all reversible.

Looks good, except for one little worry. Sodium Laureth Sulfate is the frothing but potentially nasty chemical contained in many shampoos, including ketoconazole types, eg. Nizoral. Perhaps the main ingredient is strong enough to be worth the benefit. I asked the makers of Nizoral to give their view on this, but received no reply.

msn for hairloss lol. if you do add the minoxidil you'd need to use it every day.

I was thinking once a day, b4 bed. I hate the way it makes my hair look, wet and greasy after I apply it.
Somone also mentioned in one of my post that you can get a generic brand of minoxidil for like $8 in the states. I'm in Canada but does anyone know of anything I can pick up?

Looks good except as someone said, dump the saw palmetto. It is worthless and could affect your libido. Don';t listen to any nutcases who will tell you it has any benefit. They are probably naturalist freaks.

You say 1 Proscar per day but how many ways are you going to split the tablet out of curiosity? I'd start out with either 1 mg or 1.25 mg, so split it either in fifths or fourths.

Also I would up your MSM dosage to at least 3000 mg per day.

I'm not sure how to divide the pills yet. I don't even know what they look like yet
Do I have to ask for a particular dosage when I ask for the prescription.
Also I'm still waiting to get everything together, so I'm still only taking vitimin B6. Everything will be in possession within a month, so should I ease myself onto each, or just start taking everything in one day?

Get a pill cutter at a pharmacy or ebay, then divide the pills into fourths. I would start treatments as soon as they are avaible for you. You need to fight male pattern baldness as early as possible.

If you're in the US, which your style and spellings suggest, you can get a pill cutter at the local Dollar Store. But, if it would be easier to write off one less thing in "gathering your regimine," you can just use a razorblade. Not quite as effective, but close. Good luck, buddy.

I'm actually in Canada but I will def. pick up a pill cutter.
Also does anyone know the name of generic minoxidil? I've heard it goes for like $8.00 US. The stuff I was getting b4 was the 1% Life Brand Rogaine and it was 39.99.

Here is my two cents...

These are a regiment, and it is a good regiment:
thinning_esteem said:
Proscar daily
Wash with nizoral shampoo twice weekly
These are NOT a regiment, but are beneficial things to do that are probably worth the expense. I wouldn't take a separate B6, but instead just take a full B complex vitamin every day:

These are a waste of your money. If you like the Revivogen shampoo for the cosmetic way that it makes your hair look or feel, then continue it, but if it isn't providing outstanding cosmetic benefits then I would suggest dropping it. It's not going to help your haircount, and I'm sure you can find another normal off-the-shelf shampoo that would give you equivalent cosmetic results for a lot less money. The saw palmetto is useless.

I always used Dove shampoo and though it works well I just want a little more boost. About 2 months ago I switched over to "thicker fuller hair" and it doesn't seem to do anything except leave my hair feeling greasy.
Also what are the hairloss benefits if nizoral shampoo? Isn't it for dandruff?

Nizoral's main benefit is that it fights Malaseezia yeast, a natural scalp parasite that we all have on our heads. This yeast is an irritant, and causes an immune system/inflammatory response very similar to that caused by male pattern baldness, and the inflammatory effect of both the Malaseezia and male pattern baldness can be synergistic. By keeping the parasitic irritant at bay, Nizoral removes a major ambient source of scalp irritation. In doing so, it reduces the overall inflammatory response your body has to the male pattern baldness.

Additionally, its also a mild anti-androgen.

the nizoral and proscar are good, but I don't think the revivogen will do much unless it is the vials. Unless the shampoo has a lot of the fatty acids in it, but I suspect it does not. I forgot the reason I came to that conclusion. Not sure what the B6 will do for your hair. Drop the saw palmetto. The MSM will not affect the balding process at all, but probably will speed up hair growth if it is going too slow, but should have the same effect on your body hair.

that is dumb. Get the pill cutter at the store. the razor blade will be a tremedous daily hassel. And you have to buy it too.

I read a study Bryan posted where a small group of maybe 40 men with male pattern baldness had higher hair counts compared to placebo when they took 2.5 mg per day of biotin. I just saw the abstract, so I don't know if the control was deficient. I just hope the study was done ethically, meaning the control had a normal diet. There was no mention of multiple doses being tested. Since the RDA for biotin is so low, I suspect even 1mg might have got the same result. I get a bulk powder from beyond-a-century. Very cheap. I take about 1mg per day. The 5mg figure is from Jayman using that since he can't find pills with less than 5mg.
