So it's been about a few weeks since my last update, I have taken better quality pictures of my hairline because I'm becoming very paranoid that it is starting to recede. Some background info: Im 19 ant started noticing my hair thinning around my 5th month of accutane I was on back in November of 2013. My hair thinned drastically until about 5 months post treatment my hairs thickness slowly came back ( even though its not fully thick as before accutane.) Overall, its been about 8 months post accutane and now I feel as if my hairline is receding. I went to two derms and one prescribed me keto shampoo (she diagnosed my scalp with seborrheic dermatitis. While the other deem I visited examine my hairline and insisted it was pattern baldness and recommended rogaine. I don't know who to believe anymore!! I've been using rogaine for about 3 weeks now on my hairline and its making me shed like crazy!!!! What do you folks think? Any suggestions opinions are appreciated thanks!!!!

its supposed to shed. You should thoroughly read about any meds before you start so you know what to expect. I would have chosen finasteride and not rogaine/romaine/minoxidil whatever you want to call it. You have some minor recession at hairline, that is certain.

I agree with taylorbeam12, it looks like it could be developing into a mature hairline. It all just depends on how much further the corners and front recede or thin. Finasteride would be your best bet if you want to keep and potential regrow that hairline to a more full state

No I would say that you really haven't lost much ground, if it is male pattern baldness you have the potential to catch it at a really early state. You can do many things to use as a preventative measure, finasteride and minoxidil being two of the big ones. You could hop on finasteride if you want, its the best thing you can do to maintain and potentially regrow hair, but there is always a risk in taking it. I'm very young (18) and am taking finasteride and Ive had no sides whatsoever

Yeah I've heard horror stories about finasteride, but it's good to know I've caught it early! Right now im using minoxodil applied to the temples each night as directed by my dermatologist, so far it's making my hair shed like crazy especially at the hairline. :( Would you say im still a norwood 1? And thanks may the triforce be with you :D

starting minoxidil is a really bad decision, I only recommend it to people in moderate stages of hair loss. Its a hair regrowth treatment, not a hair loss prevention treatment. What can you regrow when you basically have almost all your possible hairs already? NOTHING! so there is no point in using minoxidil and I would just stop using it if I was you instead of wasting your time and money rubbing that **** in your hair every day for the rest of your life for no additional benefits. Start finasteride instead

Well I only have been using it on my corners so far and I feel like it's making my hairline shed a lot I guess I'll stop using it even though my derm suggested to. Are you saying I havnt lost any ground yet btw? What norwood stage is my hairline at?

You have lost ground, but barely any. Not anything people besides yourself will notice. I would stop minoxidil, but only if you are replacing with finasteride. Approaching nw2

Ok that's good to hear, yeah I'm currently using minoxidil until my next derm visit to jump on to finasteride I'm just scared that finasteride will make my hairline recede even more. :( Norwood 1.3?

I'm just scared because I've heard horror stories online on how finasteride can cause your hairline to recede even more or prematurely jump start male pattern baldness
