im a 38 year old man and my hair has been slowly receding at the temples for about 10 years. The last couple of years I have noticed my crown starting to thin out- under the right lighting if I hadn't brushed my hair you could see some scalp, some of the hairs felt thinner but it wasn't too bad.
About 7 weeks ago I had my hair cut quite short. It looked fine after the cut. The following week I was in the sun a lot and seemed to burn my scalp. I went for a massage at the weekend and the therapist commented that I had a bald spot. The therapist checked my hair- she had dealt with her own alopecia issues. She commented that it just looked like id burned my scalp a little but there was still coverage..
Now im here 7 weeks later and the hair in my bald spot isn't just isn't growing, Its remained the same length and feels really dry and my scalp is often sore and itchy. The rest of my hair is growing fine and im confused as to what has happened. Could I have damaged the hair so it isn't growing? is this just male pattern baldness? if it is male pattern baldness why have these hairs just stopped growing like this, I expected my crown to eventually thin out to a bald patch but overnight?, is this common for male pattern baldness? Maybe its a combination of male pattern baldness and damage by the sun? 4 years ago I was diagnosed with crohns disease so auto immune responses could be the culprit.
thanks for reading, any advice would be appreciated

hey man, im sorry to say, it looks like standard male pattern baldness. You've mentioned that you've been receding for about 10 years, and have had a shorter haircut which indicates that your crown will be easier to detect.

finasteride could probably do you well if you are willing to take it

thanks for the reply. The reason I asked is because under the same lighting conditions, just 7 weeks ago it didn't look like this, you could see some scalp but there wasn't a bald patch. Ive had the same hair cut for years. Does male pattern baldness work like this? The hair that remains is just not growing, im wondering why it hasn't grown at all, when seven weeks ago it was fine.

the word you are looking for is 'spelling', bell end
obviously im concerned about other conditions, im asking if anyone has seen or experienced anything like this, that isn't male pattern baldness. I don't understand why the hair is not growing

thanks for the reply, its the eventually part that gets me, within a week I had a noticeable bald patch that wasnt there before, I didnt think male pattern baldness worked like that.
