yeah more than likely. Your hair is still thick but it seems like you are the verge of total decimation tbh so you should take action pretty soon but not before getting diagnosed first.

You're going through puberty, so this will NOT be an accurate reflection of
your future hair.

That said, if you're still losing a lot at 18, start popping some Finasteride.

For now, I recommend Minoxidil 5% solution all over.

No sexual side effects with Minoxidil.

I was 20 and had very thick hair and had similar thinning to you. I used minoxidil for about 6months and it filled in and didn't have any issues till I was 29. People here are just guessing and assuming you are permanently bald while this is not necessarily the case. Use minoxidil, you will shed more at first. If your hair cycle is off then this can help reset it.

So is not weird to shed a whole bunch(I'm talking like a few hundred hairs a day)? Does puberty really have that affect on some people. Also, my hair looks full, but only when dry.

You think because I'm young it's not male pattern baldness. My biggest fear is that its male pattern baldness and I have no chance of it growing back.

I think to diagnose that you have male pattern baldness based on your photos and age would be a leap unless a lot of your male relatives went bald at your age. I think it is worth using Minoxidil for 6+ months and evaluate from there.

What will a blood test show me. Either way I can't get one because I can't make my own doctors appointments. My mom just thinks I'm tweakin and that my hair is completely normal.

Chances are it is male pattern baldness but being so young you do have really good chances at getting it all back... if you do something about it now. Minoxidil is your best option at this age. Make sure to get blood tests as well because if you do come back extremely deficient you can drop the minoxidil and fix your diet. However this doesn't mean you should wait for blood results to start treatment. No one means to scare you. It's just that everyone was once in a situation at least somewhat similar to yours and would've greatly benefit from starting rather than wondering is this male pattern baldness? Will this get better on its own? etc etc

I come from a unique position where I was young and had a bald spot and most would say I have male pattern baldness (dad and both grandfathers are bald) but it resolved within six months of minoxidil and stayed fine for almost a decade. My hair looked like yours when wet. But I also did something about it.

Rogaine is not really just for male pattern baldness it is considered a growth stimulator through various mechanisms that are not fully understood (blood flow, prostaglandins and influencing follicular phases possibly through its actions of prostaglandins). The side effects that you may experience is irritation (mitigated with the foam though I have always used the liquid) and increased hair shedding for a few weeks (so use it when your hair is longer as the shed can be quite significant).

Ok, so 5%, foam, and I'm assuming directions are on the box. Is this something I'll be taking continuously for a long time? Any brand recommendations from anyone else btw?
