Since 1-2 months ago, i have been losing 50-60 chest hair and 50-60 pubic hair each day, besides the hair loss over my scalp which is extreme about 300-500 hairs each day.

I suffered from severe flu for a complete month and high fever for a week during the flu. I was taking lot of medicines such as strong doses of Aspirin and Ibruprofen during that period. I was also doing an hour of heavy physical activity, thinking the fever might come down if i do so... It did, but only very gradually. And, a few days after the fever had gone, i went for a hair cut and that`s when i noticed chronic hair loss had begun.

For the past 2 months, i have significantly lowered many stressful activities and reduced physical activity almost completely.

I feel that during the fever, zinc from all concentration sites of the body had been used to power the immune system. I recollect how i suffered from complete loss of sense of taste and my eyes were totally red. I should have gone to the doctor, but it was foolish that i decided to self-medicate.

Any ideas on how the severe body hair loss can be treated are appreciated!.

Consult a specialist and get a test on your hormonal levels done ASAP.I am not sure but it could be this

Hi!,

Thank you very much for the link!. I`m not having any bald spots as clear as in the article. But i`m losing lot of hairs from all over my head. Especially, the back and sides and significantly in the crown. I do have some very small like... 1mm - 2mm diameter sized spots in the beard. But they are visible only under very close observation. I also have hair coming out from my scalp which resemble "Exclamation Point". But only a small percentage of the hair that come out are so in shape.

Yes, i`ll get my hormone levels checked as you advised!.

Thanks again!.

I am totally surprised now that though i have lost significant amount of hair each day for the past 5 months, since the 1st of jan 2011, My hair loss stopped almost completely. If i rub and scratch my head and scrub my hair, i only get around 40-50 hair, while in the past, even a soft massage would yield about 200-300 hairs and over 600 hair per day. To be frank, i lived miserably as i was too lazy and depressed about some thing or the other. I only went out of the house, a dozen times in 5 months and stayed in closed room with no air circulation, the rest of the time. I also did not keep up times. I just ate when i wanted to and never aimed at any specific outcome. The only thing i did without fail was popping in a multi-vitamin capsule daily.

On the 31st, i had to leave the country and return to my home country. So, i was forced to breathe some air that`s got oxygen in it. and Since the 1st of jan 2011, i am more shocked than surprised to find my hair loss coming to a grinding halt. But, i do not want to jump into conclusions just yet, as this is just the beginning or the first time i see strong results in months.

Seeing the sudden pause in my hair loss, i anticipate it to be a result of Telogen Effluvium.

My next aim is to approach hair growth by taking a normal diet and some aerobics. Hope it works...

Happy new year 2011, and good luck to all!.

meh, you probably have Telogen Effluvium. I think doing an hour of vigorous exercise during an illness is basically the opposite of what you're recommended to do. You should be giving your body a rest (when I have a viral illness the last thing I want to do is exercise tbh... I tried once and I felt very faint and ill...)

Keep taking your multivit+multiminerals daily and see what happens in a week or so. I didn't think Telogen Effluvium was hormonal but if you still have Telogen Effluvium in two weeks see your doctor (with Telogen Effluvium the hair all grows back anyway).

I've only ever seen one guy who had Telogen Effluvium and he got Telogen Effluvium though bad stress (very ill daughter), when she recovered he eventually got all his back (it was very thin all over his head, but it was uniformly thin - no thick/thin patches or spots.)
