Hi guys,

I remember a few a years back (2014?), i went to see Dr Epstein and asked if body hair (and facial hair) will be an acceptable donor area for a transplant. At the time, he wasnt too sure of it. He heard of it being done but didnt like the results nor the success rate.

Fast forward to 2018, i get a FUE transplant from him. Transplant included regular scalp hair and beard hair in the back (so as to blend my hair better).

7 days later I start shedding these my beard hairs. They are obviously my beard hairs because they are thick and straight and dark. The good news is, is that none of these hairs looks like it came with a root or a bulb. It almost looks like straight clippings from a buzz cut. Which alone is pretty weird for a shedding hair.

Anyways, I KNOW that shedding is a normal process. And that if a graft fell out there will be blood around it. But my concern is more around that my scalp may just be rejecting the transplanted beard hairs. What process changed over the years that made it transplanting beard to scalp a successful option?

<I am also curious to know how hair beard, that pretty much grows because of DHT, functions around hair that wants to stay away from DHT. But thats another subject matter>
