Thanks for the post Bryan. That is good to know.

Let me ask you this: Years ago, my dermatologist told me to resist and not to over wash my face. He said my skin would actually get oilier and I would get more zits. Do you know if this is bunk too?

I'm not Bryan - but if you're interested - and if you have acne prone skin - here's a great face washing technique that'll clear up your skin in about 7 - 10 days . . . .

1. wash your hands

2. fill your sink w/ warm soapy water and splash the water up onto your face about 10 - 15 times without letting your hands touch your face.

3. finish by splashing your face with clear cool water.

Once daily w/ this technique is plenty. Really makes your skin look great.

does washing your hair more often create more oil -> the answer is yes for some people. JUst like people with oily face... the more they wash their face, the more quicker / oily it gets.

RUBBISH. It just doesn't work that way.

I had severe acne for 6 year and still have flare-ups now and then (aged 20 almost 21). I have actually stopped washing my face completely (around 2 years ago) and kept it away from the shower head also. My skin is noticeably in better condition and my sebaceous glands do not secrete as much oil as they once did. I used to wash my face twice a day and used benzoylperoxide or something like that all over my face to literally burn the spots off. After washing my face in the morning I noticed a cote of oil would appear 2 hours after washing and it looked really greasy.

I think I have out grown my spots, but I still resist washing my face unless it feels rough (dead skin cells building up) in which case I wash it, which happens around once every two weeks.

I tried to stop washing my hair everyday recently but the oil build up was to great and causing sticky dandruff which makes my head itch all day long and I shed a load of hairs. So I had to resort back to washing my hair everyday with shampoo which leads to my hair being incredibly dry and brittle and I’m still shedding lots! I guess I cant win either way.

Washing your hair everyday is actually more beneficial than spreading it out over three days. Any hair you would've lost with those washing, would've come out anyway as they were already in a telogen state.
