ITCH, ITCH, ITCH. The itching is driving me nuts! I'm on Nizoral...anyone have a good shampoo that will wipe this all out? I don't want to scratch
off what's left of my scalp. Thanks much! Shiney

The itch you describe is common and nothing to get worried about. I'm not sure how long you have been on minoxidil, but very often the initial minoxidil itch goes away on its own. I would stick with the Nizoral, and try cycling in either Neutrogena T-Gel or T-Sal, see if they help. I'd suggest a shampoo rotation for you of Nizoral, then T-Gel/T-Sal, then Infusium 23. If after a few weeks of this the itching continues, I would experiment with dropping the Nizoral, albeit very hesitantly because Nizoral is a very helpful piece of the regimen. Before dropping the Nizoral, try the T products and let us know if they help. Then, come back to this board and let us know what the situation is and we will try to help you from there. Keep up the good fight.

T-gel shampoo is great. I use it every night currently. That plus nizoral has cured my itch :)

TGEL is awesome against the itch.

I suggest you look into Dr.Lee's Xandrox as a replacement for whatever form of minoxidil your on now. Normal Rogaine was killing my head. I was picking and rolling up big lumps of scalp cause of the itch and dryness it caused. This then made my scalp start to bleed and there was noway I could have stayed on the stuff.

So I switched to Xandrox and it barely gives my head a tingle.

Mikey, that is good advice in general, but keep in mind that your recommendation is that he drop a cheaper minoxidil product for a more expensive one from Doctor Lee. Considering that minoxidil is a regular expense for the rest of one's life, I think it is better to first try to address the issue with an anti-inflammatory shampoo such as T-Gel before altering the active fundamentals of one's regime and driving up the cost.

What I am saying in a nutshell is that the lower PPG content of Dr Lee's solutions are helpful in reducing itch in those who are sensitive to PPG. In this particular case, sensitivity to PPG might not be the problem... he might just need a good anti-inflammatory to help calm the irritational side effects of adding a foreign chemical solution to one's scalp. He should try the T-Gel first, before coming to any conclusion that a more expensive designer minoxidil solution from Dr Lee is the right fix for him.

Nizoral and Tgel made my scalp even more itchy, try folligen, few weeks on that my scalp has never been better.

Fucken Trilidon, where have you been? Good to hear from you!

Anyways, yes, Folligen is a very good suggestion. I would first try the T-Gel for a good few weeks because it costs less and for most people seems to have a positive effect and it costs less that Folligen. If t-gel doesn't work, then definitely give folligen a shot if you can work it into your routine.

Last resort is shelling out the big bucks for the designer Xandrox minoxidil formulation from Dr Lee. Leave that in your hip pocket as a potential future and LAST RESORT weapon if you need to kick your regime up a notch in the future. But if your current regime, plus a good anti-inflammatory that works for you does the trick, then your problems might be solved. Good luck mate. Gardener
