It's time to do something. Where do I start?

I've been steadily losing my hair for about 10 years now. It has also been steadily turning gray (although that isn't my concern) for the past 10 years. I am 33 years old and I've finally gotten to the point where my hair loss is constantly on my mind and causing me to feel depressed. I first started research about two years ago (notice my username has 31 in it) and I've been putting off doing something. I've had enough of this depressing feeling and it's time to act.

My question is, where do I start? I would prefer to talk to a Doctor that has a lot of experience treating hair loss, but I don't know where to go. I had a routine physical with my primary care physician about a month ago and I asked him about hair loss. He wasn't very interested in helping. He said I could try Rogain but that would only be a temporary fix. I asked about propecia and he wrote me a prescription, but said that would only work temporarily too. I told him I would do some more research before deciding to fill the prescription. I've spent a lot of time reading on this website and I understand what propecia and rogain do and how they work.

What I really want is to talk to a Doctor that has a lot of experience with this and can coach me through the process of taking "the big 3". Where do I go to find such a doctor? Is this a dermatologist?

I've added some pictures of my current hair state. Again I'm 33 years old and I've been steadily losing hair for the past 10 years, although it seems like the last year my baldness has been much more noticeable. Where would you place me on the Norwood scale?

Norwood 3 vertex it is
you should def. try the big 3
temporary fix actually means that maintaining and improving will last for the time of application + 3 months
1mg finasteride per day is not necessary
my recommendation:
1.try 0,5mg finasteride every second day (3 weeks on and 1 week off -> imporant)
2. do not overuse nizoral (2-3 times a week max)

for further information you should see a derm or just ask us :)

Bringing this one back up. I live in Kansas City. Where do I go to find a dermatologist that specializes in or has experience with hair loss? Will any dermatologist work or do I need a special type? Please help. I'm ready to get on the big three and would really like to have a doctor coach me through it.

This is easy! Google Kansas City dermatologists. Click on the clinics websites and find one that treats hair loss. Call for an appointment and ask for a doctor that specializes in alopecia. Not every dermatologist works with that so it is important to get that clarified.
