I've Concluded That Anti Androgens Only Help My Hairline. Weird.

I was on finasteride for a year = rapid diffused thinning all through crown and midscalp, while my previously whispy thin hair line and temples thickened up pretty drastically. crawling feeling through crown.

Dropped finasteride about five months ago = crown is starting to thicken up a bit and now hair line is going to sh*t. Like I won't lost hairs if i tug on my crown, while I can pull out 5-10 if I do so on my hair line. Now - tingling in hair line.

This is weird because it's assumed the opposite for most people. Any theories?

Interesting. Stay off anti androgens and then get blood work, go back on and then get further blood work. You now my story. My hairline hasnt stopped itching and receding in about 4 years now. Still on dutasteride and getting worse. Seb derm outbreaks of excess sebum/keratin in between.. never ending man.

hahaha... well, I would respond with the very logical rebuttal - @Dante92 - you've never seen me, ya *** face! :p

You have a girlfriend.

Only attractive men can get girlfriends.

And the attractiveness of a man is all in the face.

Ergo, you have a nice face.

;-)

yeah, because every man I see out there with a girlfriend is attractive! haha Not at all. I saw this SUPER gorgeous girl at the gym today. I couldn't help but check her out a bit. Then.. I saw her boyfriend. Pretty damn average, borderline ugly. I don't know how it happens, but it PISSES me off! haha :p

Considering everything you wrote about yourself, I don't need eyes to see. "Ya *** face" :D

This is a really weird reaction to anti-androgens and makes me think your loss might not even be androgenic. Or just partly. From what you say about your bird's nest it seems the quality and texture of your hair is rapidly declining too. But this combined with the diffusing might be a clue that it's some kind of chronic Telogen Effluvium. Did you do comprehensive blood work? Telogen Effluvium can actually resemble androgenic balding in some ways.

I've looked into everything, but it's definitely male pattern baldness. The only place I am diffusing is in the NW7 horseshoe.. pretty evenly throughout. Telogen Effluvium from finasteride and injuries and such are definitely speeding it up! I just watch as the hair that's falling out becomes thinner and thinner. The quality of the hair that's staying is really good actually. Thick and shiney... there's just not enough. Imagine a slick NW7 getting an hair transplant with like 8,000 grafts evenly distributed.. that's exactly what it looks like.

That sucks man. I also have a relatively intact hairline but pretty even thinning everywhere. At least we can pull off the fade look as long as you still have some strands up there. If you see it getting thinner and more see-through every week, the day is eventually going to come where you have to say goodbye. It sucks but it will get easier!
