I've heard much about minoxidil causing hairloss to worsen

I've heard about the studies that minoxidil causes hairloss in the absence of insulin, and significant number of posters seem to think that minoxidil makes the hairline worse.

I apply minoxidil at my hairline at the temples and have seen my hair recede while on the drug. Is this just natural progression of male pattern baldness, or does minoxidil in fact have a chance to worsen hairloss at the hairline?

I just want clarification because although I am satisfied with slowing down hair loss while fighting it with the Big 3, I am NOT ok with applying something that is making it worsen!

So please, anybody know about this or thinking about this please post your thoughts.

I heard the same things about minoxidil, there seems to be alot of people on this forum posting "minoxidil Ruined my Hair!".

I am starting to think the same, my hair was thinning so i started finasteride and nizoral 3 months ago and hairloss seemed to have stopped. I added minoxidil 2 months ago and applied it to the entire top of my head (even where i have hair) and it now seems my hair is alot thinner than before i started minoxidil.

So whats the deal guys?

Has anyone had good (and i mean more than a few vellus, wispy hairs) results with regrowth?

Im seriously thinking about jacking in the minoxidil and sticking to just finasteride and nizoral. Can anyone give me a good reason to keep rubbing this greasy sh*t on my head twice a day?

I just looked at pictures from Christmas, i started minoxidil in early december, have been on finasteride for 2 years prior, and my hairline since Christmas has without a doubt gotten thinner. I am PRAYING that this will change over time, but for now i am very bummed out.

BAck in 97' when I still had decent coverage my hairs at the roots actually were sore so when I combed my hair it was an uncomfortable feeling. I tried 2% min during this time and it only inflammed the skin even more so lessen learned. Don't apply min to a full blow case of dht inflammed skin. Cure the inflammation and dht problem first then apply min.

I've read 30+ posts from people saying minoxidil worsened their hairloss ("horror-shedding", "shredding").
There is in-vitro evidence this could happen.

So what's the deal about this 'coz I just started on min?

The deal is that some people panic when they start to shed, and others are having allergic reactions to Minoxidil, Alcohol or some other substance in Rogaine-clones. Most, however, does not. And most of those don't have a reason to be here, so you won't hear as much from them.

So what about not using it with finasteride (as currently don't went to get a prescription for that) causing increased balding as it makes DHT get more access to the receding hair?

finasteride MAKES YOU DUMB

in vitro is Latin ("within a glass"), i.e. the research is done within a test tube or outside the organism in general.

in vivo ("withing the living"): research done one hole organism.

Maybe in 20 years all this research can be done in silico.

It sounds like someone has been saying that Minoxidil increases the blood flow.

This kind of 'checking' just spreads these rumours.

This forum has declined rapidly in the last month and is now awash with myth and rumour.

And most of it seems to be concerning Minoxidil. When I joined this forum in december, the gyno-craze was just starting to fade away - I think.
