I was watching some old footage of the great golfer was wondering if he has ever had a hair transplant or been on anything like finasteride. I mean just look at this photo; He was only 23 at the time but is clearly receding and thinning quite dramatically. You'd think he'd be lucky to have any hair at all by the time he was 30 but his hair never seemed to get much worse. Even today, many years later he still has a half decent head of hair for a man of his age. Is it possible a guy can get early recession like this and just stop receding?

Definitely hairloss can naturally halt anywhere on the norwood scale but finasteride is a possibility as well. And he no doubt has access to the worlds best hair transplant doctors but it all looks pretty natural so who knows. Other than finasteride, I'd suspect he hasn't done anything at all most likely.

Right, there's really no way to know how far one's hairloss will progress, no matter how early or late it starts. For those curious and not in the mood to Google, here is how Jack Niklaus looks today:

His hairline has receded since that picture in the OP, but good coverage for a guy pushing 80 who started balding in his 20s. I doubt he had a hair transplant, but finasteride is a possibility.

Nearly every (western) male has some hairloss over his lifetime, but most guys don't approch NW5+ territory.

Hair loss is a strange unpredictable thing. You get so many guys on here asking the same question - "am I going bald?" and the answer is nobody really knows because hair loss is different for everyone. Sometimes when I see guys like Nicklaus I do sometimes question if maybe my hair might just stop receding and if I really need to be on finasteride. But I guess the vast majority of guys who look like him in their 20's do lose their hair.

He must have had one of the early transplants. He went from very diffuse there two fairly thick in the 80s. He gained quite a lot of density. He's lost a lot of those hair transplants now thought after 30 years they seem to fall out
