Well as you guys can probabaly tell, i frequent the forum less. I try my best not to stare at mirrors and i keep my hair short and forward.

I'm really losing a hopeless battle. even if hairloss completly stopped right now, i still wouldnt be happy with my head of hair.

I'm a litte over 8 months on propecia/nizoral and it hasnt done a thing as far as i can tell.

my head itches like crazy, it's tender in all the male pattern baldness areas.

so I guess i'm going to lose this war.

on a positive note.. i dont give a FCUK anymore. I cleared my skin by visiting the dermatologist. I pump iron hard core.. i tan.. and i have a beautiful fiance.

male pattern baldness will not own me.

Jeff,
you've got the right attitude.

I know you don't want to hear this, but you're still 4 months away from judging whether or not Propecia is working for you. Honestly, I gave up at 10 months, and I figure that I am a slow responder to DHT inhibitors. I should have waited it out until the 12-month marker.

Wait 4 more months, Jeff, until you KNOW if Propecia is working for you.

Anyway, if you ever get bored, check out the Intercytex thread. It appears that Phase II trials have begun, and it's looking like it will become a reality within the next few years.

Why don't you up your regimen? If you don't want to, that's fine, but if you do want to fight your hair loss, why not add some topicals? If you want to add just one, you could try Proxiphen, which in my experience irritates the scalp the least and is the easiest to use. It is costly, however.

For one, stick with the propecia. I only saw good results approaching 2 years.

Why aren't you using minoxidil?

Not sure if you read the experimental section but http://www.skinactives.com is selling a topical with alot of different stuff including Keratinocyte Growth factor. I love that place because I used to have racoon like dark circles under my eyes and their stuff helped thicken up my skin. My eyes aren't great yet but I recently ordered the KGF to help thicken up the skin. They are mainly promoting it for hair growth though. It would be interesting to see what someone has to say about their product even though i'll never use it. (I don't have to, i just need a few plugs along the hairline and i'll be good.)

Anyhow, don't give up you can add alot to your regimen and Propecia is the shiznit. (It was for me atleast.) Peace.

i'm not using rogaine b/c i dont have "loss" under control.

I've considered other topical DHT inhibitiors but after searching i really havent found one that seems to be great.

I'm still on propecia and i plan on staying on it for at least a year. who knows.. maybe it's helping slow down my hair loss... i gues i could be losing 100 hairs in the shower instead of 30?

I'm not doing dutasteride b/c it's not FDA approved. i know that sounds wimpy.. but i'm a little nervous to use my body as a testing dummy.

anyway.. fight on brothers!!!

jeffs - i guess at this point your treatments really revolve around how much you can afford and how much of a f*** you give. i would suggest a little bloodwork though - get your thyroid function and your insulin response checked. rule out contributing factors.

jeffsss, why don't you give topical dutas a try? It cleared up my itch in just 3 days of use.

Let your dubt out of here, I'm not going to post a link, and I never wrote a book and YES, I have something substantial.

jeffsss, do the following: put 25-35 grams of pure Aloe Vera gel (99 to 100%) in a paper cup, then squeeze a capsule of Avodart 0.5 mg in the cup and mix with finger. Then, under the shower, let your scalp soften under warm water for two minutes and apply the mixture and leave it on for no more than 5 minutes while massaging ( strong massage - almost squeezing the target zones between your fingers). Finally shampoo out the remaining mix from your scalp. This probably will stop your itch immediately for more than 24 hours.
