Anyone feel that it has yielded better results then just regular minoxidil? I bought a year supply for kicks...we'll see what happens. Any testmonials? (Good or bad?)

I'm on month 4 or 5.

Thumbs up for price and cosmetic acceptibility (sp?).

Better than regular minoxidil? Jury's still out in my case (but at least it ain't hurtin' me none).

Couldn't tell you due to my kitchen sink approach to topicals.
(Minomuck, spironolactone 2%,5%, Revivogen, Tricomin, Nizoral)

However, it can't hurt and for the price, it makes sense. I'm even thinking of adding super zix II to the mix (minus the zinc) :freak:

Yeah thats true..you can't really beat the price for a whole year supply. Just applied some today..I like the way it makes my hair feel..thicker and not as dry as usual. I'll keep ya updated.

Does it mix well with Dr Lee's minoxidil? Because I'm going to work, I don't want to have powder or strange color on my head.

Anyone can advise me on this?

How is it going for you? Btw, why without the zinc?

It mixes fine. On my current program my hair is thickening well and even some regrowth in the temples.

My Update on Minomuck -

My hair density on top has improved about 1/2 Norwood since I stated on minomuck (My frontal hairline is still for sh&t though). I'm almost through my 1st bottle of the muk. Because of my kitchen-sink approach I can't say w/ 100% confidence that it's the minomuck and not something else - but it's the only "new" thing in my regimine. My hair's actually looking pretty good these days.

I add it to Dr. Lee's 5%.

I started w/ 2 x daily - and have cut back to only once in the AM after showering.

I think I've exhausted minoxidil's benefits - so I'm thinking aout getting back on zix when the minomuck runs out.

I haven't been in touch w/ Joe for awhile - but I think his zix formula now contains the scalpmed/minomuck ingredients.

Bottom line endoresement from me - if you're usng 5% liquid minoxidil anyway - it shouldn't hurt to add the minomuck to it.

As always, your mileage may vary.

Why not use triple Zix in the a.m. and the Minomuck in the p.m.? After all, you said you got good regrowth from triple zix right?

I don't know if I ever used triple zix. CRS.

I do know that about 6 months after starting n zix - Joe approved super zix so I slid right into that. I do recall zix in the am and super in the pm for awhle.

The only thing about zix - and I'll have to look back into because it's been awhile - is that there are a few things you shouldn't use whle on zix, like minoxidil and I think zinc based shampoos (like head n sholders. doesn't revta contain zinc?)

I don't buy the whole "You can't use minoxidil while on Zix" thing. Several people have used both with success over the years and even Joe has stated in the past that many use both with good results. He is only recently changing his tune because of the one study posted about Head and Shoulders and minoxidil.

I even asked Dr. Proctor about the issue and even the tight-lipped, 'Can't say' man said he has never seen a problem using zinc topicals with minoxidil in all his years.

Hmmm - I just might have to build zix back into my daily routine. Maybe a once daily after work application.

I guess I could go to joe's website and look this up myself - but is he including minomuck in his zix formula these days?

Joe will tell you to add his muck to minoxidil and stay away from zinc topicals.

Personally, I would either use Zix twice a day followed by minoxidil at night, or if you're really paranoid about zinc and minoxidil interracting with one another I would use minoxidil in the a.m. and Zix in the p.m.

I'm not as paranoid about that interraction as I am about just stopping minoxidil.

I don't know how much - if any - minoxidil has been helping me the last few years. I think my recent improvement has been because of the minomuck added to my minoxidil.

I AM paranoid about what would happen if I do stop minoxidil completely - which is why - yeahh - that's the ticket - minomuck in the AM, zix in the PM, and eventually wean myself off the minoxidil.

I don't know - but I'm not going to worry about it for now :)

I know exactly what you mean. minoxidil was never the homerun for me that it has been for others---but I would still never quit it for fear of a huge shed.

Dr. P told me there were some solid science behind the use of topical zinc. That's enough for me.

OK JWM - thanks. Something to think about.

I still have all the individual zix ingredients at home. I never purchased the zix pkg from Joe - but opted to buy the zinc, saw palm gel caps, ethyl alcohol and distilled water myself and mixed it all up. I have some B6 caps stashed too. That was either for the zix or something else I was mixing up in my bathroom sink :)

UPDATE:

This from Joe - ripped from a recent thread at another place . . .

I am not 100% sure but it looks as though zinc ruins minoxidil. When you apply zix there is always some zinc residue left on your scalp. Even 12 hours later. If you apply the minoxidil after zix I believe you will be ruining most if not all of the minoxidil.

You could apply minoxidil after showering then later in the day apply zix.....but you need to wait at least 2 hours after you apply the minoxidil to apply the zix. By that time it is believed that most if not all of the minoxidil has already done everything it's going to do.

Then of course the next day you shower and repeat the same routine. So in short...don't apply minoxidil to a scalp that has any zix residue. Also don't use a shampoo that contains zinc as well....this tends to ruin minoxidil as well

I wonder if dropping revita which I'm pretty sure is zinc base back in March helped me some. Maybe it was interfering w/ my minoxomuck?

There's a pic of a guy on this site who got great results with minoxidil, finasteride and...Head and Shoulders!

Joe is the man, I like him a lot, but remember, for years he was saying it was ok to use minoxidil after Zix AND told us he would get emails from several people who were doing this with success.

There are SEVERAL people on HLH who have used Zix and minoxidil together with good success, Jambap and Henrylightcap are two that immediately come to mind. In fact Henry claimed he only STARTED to get results with minoxidil AFTER adding Zix. Said he used minoxidil for a full year prior and saw no results.

I guess washing your hair in the morning, applying minoxidil after it, and applying ZIX in the evening should be fine right?

Btw, as far as i can remember, you said a friend of your's is using Zix as well. Which one and is he still having success with it? :)
