Judo/ground Fighting With A Hair System?

I was wondering what people thought about how hair systems hold up to judo? Specifically Swiss lace with taped perimeter and glued hairline.
I can imagine the stand up stuff being fine but when it comes to ground fighting is it just a no go? I know I'm not allowed to wear head protection like a lot of people in Brazilian jiu jitsu and stuff or bandanas basically just because of tradition.
Is it just the case that I have to pick which is more important to me, not shaving my head or not doing judo?
If anyone actually has experience with this or some kind of similar combat sport like bjj, your thoughts would be particularly appreciated.
Thanks

I don't have personal experience with this, but would ask the question if there is no head contact, you may be fine. If there is the possibility that you will receive a kick to the head, it has the potential to damage the system. I assume you will be going with a short hairstyle?

I have rubbed my head against things, getting out of cars, banging my head on cabinets, with a French lace system (less delicate than Swiss), with no problem (no hair loss, lace tares, or system coming loose).

Would be interesting if anyone else has personal experience?

I have some experience with Karate.....goju style. But the style is stand up punching and kicking. No grappling as is Brazilian jiu jitsu. But I have watched 100's of hours of MMA primarily UFC.

You state that you will study judo. Does that mean no Brazilian jiu jitsu? And no hard grappling? If Brazilian is a no then possibly judo only might be ok. How often do you expect that someone will have you in some form of tight head lock? Will anyone ever put you in a position in which your head is being ground into a mat? It all comes down to friction and pressure against the hair piece.

Anything with head contact runs the risk of moving the system.
If the bond is less than at maximum strength any activity challenged by gravity could make it sit not quite right and cause irritation

I personally wouldn't chance it. I've been in the martial arts over 30 years. The way I sweat and people grabbing your hair. It would be more embarrassing to lose a piece than to go without

I am not a martial arts man, but personally I wouldn't risk it. There is a good chance you would be fine, but you have to take into account how you would feel in the worst case scenario. There is not much head contact in judo as I understand it, but there is the chance of being thrown on the mat. The hair system is not going to come off, but if you were sweaty and unlucky you could catch the hairline and have it ripped free or jammed up, which would probably give away your piece to anyone watching. I value my privacy too much to take that risk, but everyone has a different threshold.

No way you can switch to something that allows a bandana or head protection?

Sad to hear this stuff but I have been planning on trying out boxing for quite some time so boxing with headgear on might have to replace judo. I'm not too upset about that though. Thanks guys
