we were cleaning out the old basement, and came across old photos of the men on my dads side of the family, it is pretty cool to see that pretty much all the men have Norwood 1-2 hair styles, even the old 80 year olds, i really hope i will take after them. the only guy past a Norwood 2 was my dads maternal grandfather, he looked to be a nw3, but theres pics of him at like 30 with the nw3, and then at like 75 with the exact same hair, so maybe it was his mature hairline, either way i find it quit fascinating, its very rare to see great hair span acorss an entire family line over like 3 generations..i guess since my run in with folliculitis it led me to become interested in hairloss and i guess in a way triggered an obession with me and hairloss. my mature hairline formed around 13 years old. and since then it hasnt changed, I also share the same facial hair pattern as my father, we both have the same spots on the cheeks where the hair wont grow, but i also have the widows peak which is inherited from the moms side but i dont know if that determines your hairs genetic makeup for male pattern baldness or not.. but i i cant help to think about my maternal grandfather who was a Norwood 2.5 at 28, will i follow suit? and if so, when would i know to do something about it? my maternal grandfather had reddish hair thin wire like hair, much like the texture of my mothers(which i do not have, i have my dads relatively thick, wavy hair) and i understand that this does not determine who's genes you have for male pattern baldness.. IF my maternal grandad did indeed have male pattern baldness, and lost his temporal peaks(triangles at the sides of the head) due to male pattern baldness, im guessing if i had his genes, id follow suit and loose my temples too, so if my temples do disappear, would that be an indicator to jump on meds? as of right now, i do not really think im loosing my hair at this point, i dont see any hair on my pillow, 1 or 2 hairs in the shower on some days even 0 hairs in the shower, i cannot grab any hairs from my own "pull test" and my hair is still thick. the derm i went to, i felt like he didnt answer my questions very good, he seemed to be wrong on some stuff, he believed that the moms side thing was a wives tale, and proceeded to say "have you ever seen a dad with a full head of hair at 53 like your dad, and have their kid go bald? i sure havnt...". he also said that the loss of temporal peaks can be part of the mature hairline, to me that just sounded false. all he did was look at my hair with a hand held microscope, and did a pull test, and asked bout my background, and he said i shouldnt probably worry bout losing my hair, i dont know, many people think i come on here to be a troll or a pest, and thats not the case, i find many stories on here interesting, and i have a baldness phobia i guess, and without the help of this site, i probably wouldnt know where to begin if i do start loosing my hair. maybe that one guy is right and maybe i do have bdd, i just cant shake the thought of balding off, oh well, least i can pull off a shaved head. just lemme know what you guys think...
