From a pharmacy inside a grocery store I frequent. Its produced from a company called Actavis and they are round blue pills.

Amazing how cheap this has become....Walgreens and CVS charges about $80 to $100 (Walgreens uses TEVA finasteride) which I will never be using again since its so expensive.

thats about 150 days when cut to 1mg but I normally cut it in 4ths.

You folks who buy online might need to reconsider. There is ZERO benefits to order online assuming you have access to a doctor.

Actavis has received approval from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration to market Finasteride Tablets, USP 5 mg. Distribution of the product will begin immediately.

Finasteride 5mg tablets are the generic equivalent of Merck & Company’s Proscar® tablets which are indicated for the treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH).

Annual sales of Finasteride 5mg tablets in the U.S. were approximately US$364 million for the twelve months ending March 2007, according to IMS Health data.

Doug Boothe, Executive VP of US Commercial & Administration:
“The launch of Finasteride tablets in the United States exemplifies the synergy generated from Actavis’ global R&D, sourcing and manufacturing network, and represents an important addition to our rapidly expanding product portfolio in the US market.â€￾"

With health insurance, I am only paying slightly more at Walgreens. $10 for 8 pills (roughly one month's worth).

What does that mean? The UK has socialized medicine! Surely you can get cheap finasteride from a pharmacy over there?

I got 15 pills for $10 from Costco. I'm not sure if it's because my insurance covered it, but I was shocked as hell when I found out it was that cheap.

That was back in early Feb and I still have a few pills left, with 3 refills. Hooray for 1.25mg every other day.

The world is bigger than USA. In my country you can only find Propecia at 50 €/28 pills in a local pharmacy. They dont have Proscar...and there is no Rogaine or other minoxidil solution available! We dont have Walgreens, Costco, ...
What happens in my country, happens around the "other" world (USA not included!)
Cassin, "so guys who buy online..., why risk it?" :)

So why am I always seeing folks from the UK looking to buy finasteride online? Do the doctors not prescribe Proscar for hair-loss?

They do, but it costs $60 per month. Online Fincar costs about $5 per month, hence most people buy online.

You don't even need to get a perscription from your doctor, you can just go to Boots and they will give it to you. However this is still the Merck brand and therefore costs $60 per month.

AFAIK, generic isn't available in chemists/pharmacy's.

It appears to be legit from inhouse pharmacy, loads of people on here have had great results using their stuff, including douggie, zephyr31, and peabody
I can't vouch for any other sites though.

When you say a month's worth of Proscar, does that mean 30 pills? Because 30 Proscar tablets equates to about 4 months worth when cut in fourths. $15/month would be worth the peace of mind knowing that you're getting the real deal. BTW, Are we talking 60/month in pounds or dollars?

I am just very curious about all this...

I'm not sure about Proscar, I was only given the option of Propecia. Also, Boots only provide the option of Propecia for their hair loss program.

From what I've been led to believe, Proscar is more expensive than Propecia, around twice the price. That obviously makes it a cheaper option, but It's probably down to the doctors discretion to prescribe you this instead of the defacto Propecia.

I use Fincar which is the 1mg stuff as I prefer to take 0.5mg. Considering the price of doing this (about $3 per month) it's not worth bothering with the 5mg one.

This is all in American dollars.

yes 30 pills and I only spend $38 for the real deal which is why I made this thread. A lot of guys claim they use online to save money but as I have been saying for years thats not always the case...or at least the cost is close enough to where I don't see why people risk it.

IF you can get your doctor to prescribe proscar (or its generic) it makes no sense to buy online. Again, assuming its an option which I of course realize it not always the case.

Isn't it worth piece of mind know you're using real stuff or at least stuff that is fresh and handled properly?

Man, I only pay 5 bucks for 30 proscar tablets. 5 bucks for 120 days worth of finasteride is essentially free. Rogaine foam is the most expensive part of my regimen.

Just throwing this one out there regarding unitedpharmacy.com finpecia. I began taking merck propecia at 20 after seeing a specialist he wrote me a script for 1 year. This propecia gave me sides the very first day I took it (only made my testicles hurt). They went away after about 3 days. I took it for a total of about 8 months. During that time I began to shed like crazy. At around the 7 month mark my shed drastically decreased, plus I got some sexual sides. I stopped taking it after 8 months (foolishly) because I had gotten a girlfiend I really liked and was all around happy, plus it was very expensive. Around 8 months later I began worrying about my hairloss again. So I did some research and ordered 1 years worth of unitedpharmacy.com finpecia from cipla. Honestly I think they're finpecia is fake. I had no sides, no reduced shedding, basically it felt like I wasnt taking anything at all. Around the end of February 2010 I got a pharmacist in Abilene to provide me with 30 generic proscar tablets for 45 bucks. Within the first day of taking this I got the same sides (ball ache) as I got when I first took merck propecia. I'm also shedding like crazy (30-40 hairs a day) which has me very worried but I'm gonna ride it out.

Just wanted to warn some of you guys out there. Theres almost always a way to get a doctor or pharmacist to prescribe you something. It seems shady, but it works out for me. I'm still in college and couldnt afford the 75 dollars a month for merck propecia. Now I'm practically paying around 12 bucks a month. Plus I have the piece of mind knowing it's legit. Good luck to you guys.
