I went to the doctor today to discuss my male pattern baldness. He was really cool about prescribing me medicine. He talked about finasteride and didnt even mention propecia. He put me straight on proscar for a year so im really happy about the money ill save. My doctor also advised me to get blood work done at a lab to see if my testosterone levels or anything else that may be affecting my hairloss. Should I goto the lab?

What kind of doctor did you go to? He sounds well informed. Good luck. Yes get your blood work done before and after starting finasteride.

My doctor didn't even know what finasteride was. I had to tell HER what the drug was called and where to find it in her rolodex.

Bombscience I just went to my normal family doctor. I was nervous about going but it ended up quite pleasant. About going to the lab I probably will.

What's the purpose of lab blood test? Finasteride is not effective for people with certain testosterone level? My doctor just gave me the prescription - he didn't mention any blood test.

Many doctors like to check out your prostate before issuing propecia, hence the blood tests.
