3 months and 2 weeks into treatment and still shedding..=/
No sides, except some pimples on the forehead a few weeks ago, but they vanished fortunately quite fast again!

I think I started loosing hair around the age of 17 (when I look at photos taken around the age of 16-17 there is no visible sight of hairloss)..
Now I have a thin area in the front, my temples is receeding and a little thin in the back as well..
When people start shedding in their teens, would you say that their hairloss is very aggresive? And if it is, how does this affect the results one will get from Propecia?
Do you think one will experience results faster? Or is it harder to stop?

Don't worry, it may take a long time before you see some results - 1 year or so. Be patient and persistent, you're heading in the right direction.

We all go through that. There're days where I think I'm making the biggest comeback ever and then the next day I feel like it's all going to fall out. Eventually, after a few months (about 5 months) I saw faint growth near my hairline. Now i'm approaching month 7, and those fine hairs continued to thicken. I just hope it's doing the same thing with hairs on my crown.

Hang in there. Just think of what you'd learned about yourself in your youth; you're 20 right now, and in a few years a lot more people at your age at the moment will start freaking out and by then you'll have this all figured out.

Don't worry about the depression. It's just another side effect of Propecia that you have to get used to now. You better do, because it tends to be the most permanent one.

Depression as a side effect of finesteride!? Can't you see it being a side effect of losing your HAIR!? Jesus... I get down sometimes.. when my hair looks sh*t after a swim or something, I don't feel down because of a pill

LOL

I think it takes a long time to see good results, well, longer than 3 months and 3 weeks, I am on my 7th month and if anything else it's starting to look a lot better on the top of my head, I've read that people fail to 'see' any true results until after 12 months, and sometimes even longer.

I can't stop you feeling down about it, and I'm just the same I feel a bit annoyed at everything and theres little I can do.. (well I manage to hide it pretty well cuz I have long hair) but regardless, you've gotta make do with what you've got, just take the finasteride every morning and focus on other things.

If nothing else be comforted that good results are very often seen in younger guys like yourself.

Wishing you well :)

Did you get a massive shed too when you started?

No.. I don't know what to make of that, as a shed with finasteride seems pretty common but it's been pretty steady for me.

Thank you so much for responding:)
Can I ask why you only use Nizoral once a week?

I feel like im still shedding, and has since the first day I started finasteride.. but maybe its not a shed, just the usual amount of hair I would loose.. In that case I would naturally loose over 100 hairs each time I shampoo my hair..=/

I use it once a week, because for awhile I used it as my only shampoo, and it was making my scalp feel kind of 'raw', I think I am kinda sensitive in addition to everything else, I cut it down to once a week and it has improved quite a bit. It used to be after I got out the shower if I looked in the mirror you could see my skin around hairline was all red and nasty.. it wasn't too pretty (sorry) =p

Also, the instructions in mine specifically say in bold "Do not use more than directed"

And the directions: "For the first 2 to 4 weeks: use every 3 or 4 days, thereafter use every 1 or 2 weeks"

So the manufacturer doesn't seem to want you to use it that often, I can only guess this is because of negative responses in some people, they don't stipulate though, so I cut it down to once a week, it has such good results with some people I dont want to cut it out completely, but I think I'm just playing it safe + my hair looks and feels better as a result. I use a lot of moisturising stuff before I use nizoral now as well and my hair feels even better than usual :p bit gay I know :gay:

You know some people who have a good recovery still shed a lot of hairs everyday, from cases I've read. Just keep with it and do you best not to take too much notice to shedding hairs :)

dude - great improvement!

keep it up (so long as you`re not experiencing any terrible side effects)

you started when I did, and have experienced much more noticeable improvement (although your hair started off a lot worse than mine)

you give me hope, well done!

DONT GET SLACK - keep your routine up, eat well, exercise regularly, and you could keep this hair for at least 5 years.
