Just took first dose of Finasteride. (Now at 6 Months)
I posted back here a while ago to get some advice about hairloss.
I have what seems to be the start of a receding hairline nw2-3 maybe. I have NO family history so I cant really speculate where it would stop or how quickly it would progress. If I can halt of further loss and maybe regrow some of the more recent losses on the front I'd be pretty happy.
Ive seen a doctor and am otherwise completely healthy as of writing this.
It's absolutely a big decision to make start Finasteride for hairloss, regardless of how you look at it, you are potentially risking your health for your appearances.
But after about a year of thinking about it, for me its worth it. I figured out just how much I actually want to keep my hair, and it took alot of thinking to come to that conclusion. I see alot of people sitting on the fence about whether or not to start, it's the worst place to be, I feel alot of relief knowing know that I am doing something about it, not just reading studies and obsessing about it all day.
It been an hour now with no side effects! :santa:
I'm really going to try and go into this with a positive attitude, being weary of side effects but more aware of the statistics.
I'll post updates and photo's as I see results worth posting.
Regime as of now, Neutrogena T-gel Shampoo & 1mg Propecia per day.
tl;dr
Started finasteride, feelin' fine.

1 Month Update.
Its only been one month, this seems like as good a place as any to keep a log.
-Shedding has increased and I am loosing ALOT of weaker hairs, and quite a few thicker ones. Objectively hair is probably looking a little worse.
-Running hand through hair leaves at least 3x as many hairs.
-'ball-ache' only really lasted in the first week or so, haven't noticed it since.
-Trying Toppik as a way to get through the shed phase.
-Hard to gauge the effects on sex-drive. But currently I feel completely fine.
-Skin is somewhat dry.
-0 doses missed so far. +- 1.5 hours.
-Overall, still feels great to be doing something about it. Not thinking about it all as much as 1 month ago, still its going to be a long 12 months.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.5 Months Update.
-Shedding has almost completely stopped. Really strange but it seemed to just stop over a period of 2-3 days now Its only about 5% of what is was in month 2.
-Possibly starting to see very small dark hairs on hairline. Lots of them
-Otherwise feeling great, no side-effects.
-Might have experience minor mind-fog/ however on reflection it was far more likely just exhaustion.
-Pretty sure I've come out of the shed phase, and hopefully heading into regrowth now.

6 Month Update.
Well I'm back. Today Marks 6 Months Since first taking finasteride.
-Hair is looking a fair bit better. It seems to have gradually thickened up over the last month, I also can see alot of new growth around the temples where I wasn't really sure if I would get anything.
-I'm really not 100% sure how I am now compared to baseline, I went through a pretty long shed, although I get the impression that now at this point in time I am starting to see what I lost in the the shed coming back stronger. I'm hoping that I can get a little bit better than baseline, but the photo's I took at time 0 aren't really from the best angle to see a difference yet.
-I thought I was starting to experience some mindfog throughout the last month, Thinking slowly, and just making alot of stupid Freudian slips. But I realised that someone who isn't me wasn't sleeping enough and was smoking too much ganja. My Mind feels perfectly normal now.
-May have experienced some mild sexual sides (Nothing I cant live with), but then again, I'm starting to think they too are the result of working far too hard and constantly getting next to no sleep, or they are simply in my head.
-I'm pretty stocked it has worked so far. It really looks like I am on my way to reversing 1-2 years of loss. I still regard finasteride as something I dont really want to be on for any longer than I have to. I am still eagerly awaiting like many of you the next promised treatment. (Hurry the **** up Histogen)
-It has been a pretty strange trip, But only now am I really starting to feel optimistic knowing that I am seeing some regrowth. I'm pretty keen to see how it goes over the next 6 months, only better I hope. Really hoping I can get through it without a 'second shed' which seems so common here. I caught this early, So I am hoping for the best.
Regime still: Neutragena T-gel a few times a week. And 1mg finasteride every Day. (0 Doses missed)
Goodluck everyone.
