I'm thinking of mixing 2% spironolactone solution with 2% ketoconazole shampoo. Do you think this combination can be effective and that there will be no interactions between ketoconazole and spironolactone? Anyone tried this yet? Any thoughts on this?

Cheers,

D.

I haven't tried anything like that and I wouldn't recommend of mixing ketoconazole and spironolactone. spironolactone should be applied to the scalp alone and it should be left for around 2-3 hours for total absorption. By mixing it with ketoconazole shampoo you will lose the full benefit of spironolactone.

If you find this to be true then why do you add spironolactone after applying minoxidil... dont you think it messes with effectiveness ?
minoxidil is in a solution that is made for full skin absorbation whilst shampoos are not.

If you add the spironolactone to the shampoo, what will make it absorb into the skin completely?

Also, shampoo you wash away, whilst minoxidil you leave on until fully absorbed.

That is correct and that's why mixing spironolactone and ketoconazole and using it as a shampoo doen't make sense.

I don't apply spironolactone right after applying minoxidil. I wait around 20-30 min. and then apply spironolactone. As some of you may know mixing spironolactone and minoxidil is a bad idea.

Irishpride: I said that mixing /adding spironolactone to ketoconazole shampoo is useless because it takes time for spironolactone to be absorbed and I'm assinging that Dannie would use it as a shampoo.
