Knee Pain and Hair Loss = Same Medication?

I wonder if these two go together?
one doctor once said that there are same thing that body uses and needs for healthy joints and for healthy hair growth. the idea stuck in my head.
i got my knee issues since 16-17, and my hair were thinning from young age two. knee pain was moderate, so i used non-medical treatment, wearing mostly snogg knee pads; but for hair - everything that is on a market: shampoos, vitamins, meds.
both problems still stays with me. i can't find that Doctor to ask hom this question, so maybe you know - what "thing" help both hair and joints?
thanks

Could be MSM. I don't know if that's the same as collagen but i know some people use MSM to make their hair grow faster. I don't know if it does anything for hair loss though.
