From the following website

http://www.pdrhealth.com/drug_info/nmdr ... 0024.shtml

it has been stated that

"Various doses are used. For cardiovascular health reasons, doses from 8 to 21 grams daily have been used in divided doses. To help aid with sperm quantity and quality, doses of 10 to 20 grams daily have been used in divided doses. Doses of 5 grams daily have been used for erectile dysfunction. Doses of 1.5 to 2.4 grams daily have been used for interstitial cystitis."

so from above for ED we should be taking some what around 5g daily...?

and as i remembered most people here are taking max 2g daily..

any comments..

Life Extension recommends 4.5 grams 3 times a day for high blood preasure. So that may be a good dose for ED.

As for helping with hairloss, since it (arginine) is the precurser to nitric oxide, and since mimicking nitric oxide is what minoxidil does, I would say that it is reasonable to believe that arginine may help with male pattern baldness. At least Dr. Proctor thinks so. He explained to me a long time ago that the NO in miNOxidil stood for nitric oxide.

He also mentioned that vasodiolators that increased nitric oxide were the only ones that helped with hairloss. Vasodialators that do not stimulate NO production have no affect on hairloss. He thinks that NO is a kind of chemical messenger that stimulates hair growth.

So, arginine can help with erections and may also help with male pattern baldness in general.

good piece of information, totally new to me.
4.5 g X 3 = 13.5g is that what you mean , kinda on high side.
Even though with the low dosage , is there any known side effects other than for the people have herpes and cold sore and heart problem

The only other side effect that I know of would be upset stomach. But I agree that maybe that dose is a little high. It was recommended for people with hypertension.

Also, I use to think that you had to take arginine on an empty stomach for NO release because you have to for GH release. But I have been told that it is not necessary for NO release. So taking it with food should help to prevent any GI problems.
