Length of Time Before Hair Grows Back?

About 3 weeks ago I had a rough shed period where I lost tons of my density. I attribute it to the initial phase of my treatments and am hopeful it will grow back. I know allot of you guys have gone through the same thing and what I was wondering is how long was it before you noticed the shed hair beginning to grow back? Since my hair is on the longish side it will probably have to grow to 2 inches before it would become noticeable. How long would you anticapate I would have to wait before these hairs grow back. 2 months from now sound reasonable?

From my experience it can take a couple of months before you see a new hair emerge to replace a shed one. These tend to be short, thin, and lightly pigmented and aren't there for long before they fall out and then, a couple of weeks later, are replaced by a hair which grows in slightly longer/darker/thicker than the previous one. It then falls out and the process is repeated until you have full size hairs sprouting from that spot, this means it could easily take up to 6 months from the initial shed to have fully grown hairs - though before this you'd have ones that are big enough to contribute to your hairs overall appearance.

Of course I could be wrong, this is based purely on my own observations and no doubt there is some difference between the way individuals react to a shed in terms of regrowth.

So ultimately its going to be some time before I can make an accurate judgement whether or not my hair quality has improved. The timeline you suggested kind of sucks because I was hoping my hair would be thicker by my high school graduation. Oh well if the hair grows back thicker even if it takes 6 months I'll still be happy.

One thing that hair loss has taught me is the importance of patience, those hairs you've already shed should be back in another 6 months or so, if the meds are working, but you might have other sheds in the interim which will temporarily worsen your overall hair quality.

Not trying to be the harbinger of doom or anything but just keep in mind that this is a long term fight that could take years rather than months to fully win.
