Hi guys, okay i dont want to start a flame war or any arguements, i just want to get opinions on if there is a solution to this problem some people have (including me) of brain fog while on finasteride or dutasteride. I dont want people to tell me that brain fog is bogus and its a placebo effect, or other things in my environment are causing this ect. This isnt the purpose of this thread. the purpose is to get any opinions on a way to possible solve this problem while in finasteride or dutasteride. Just trust me when i say that finasteride and dutasteride caused me brain fog and i just wasnt feeling myself while on them. My mind was foggy and i couldnt concentrate and think clearly and focus. I also couldnt hold a conversation aswell and be myself. Its almost like a felt a bit buzzed or something. Ive done some on and off tests with finasteride after being on it for about 11 solid months and ive been completely off for over 2 months. I gotta say after a bout 3 weeks off i felt better and today i feel really really good and back to normal. My mind is so crystal clear and i feel like a 22 year old should. I might add that my daily routine and eating habits have been the same for about 2 years.

Anyways, please dont critisize me and tell me im full of crap or you dont beleive finasteride or dutasteride can cause thise side effects. TRUST ME when i say they are real, i have no reasons to lie and i had a physical a few months ago and everything was great. So im looking for answers from those who may have gone through this themselve's, or those who know how to fix this problem while continuing finasteride or dutasteride. Is the brain fog, and the feeling of just not feeling yourself, or feeling a "bit off" due to lower DHT or Raised Estrogen? What is the cause of this? Would an anti-estrogen like Arimidex at low dose solve this problem? At this point i will never touch finasteride or dutasteride again and i wont be browsing hairloss forums in my spare time, so i figured i might aswell ask this last question becuase i'm interested to know and mabye somebody might actually know of a solution. There are a lot of people that are in need of a solution for this. Thanks.

I experience lightheadedness... Almost a feeling of getting "buzzed" about an hour after taking my dutasteride...

I experience this everyday, and know that I can attribute it to dutasteride.

Looks like we need some experts in here....

Powersam, Michael B., S. Foot, Bryan?

Brain Fog is a standalone symptom and is very common. Associating it wif finasteride does not have any basis.

I have expereinced brain Fog in my teens. Usually brain fog is caused by stress, unnecessary worries, low blood pressure, low self esteem, fatique and nutrition problems and many other reasons in conjunction.

I second that.

Ive gotton an enormous amount of help on this subject on another forum and possible an solution to this problem while on finasteride or Fut but i'll make a last comment.

Before finasteride i NEVER had brain fog, okay? I know people can have brain fog on their own but not in my case. Im a good looking guy, really hot girls have said that im the cutest guy they've ever seen, plus im naturally lean and pretty muscular. My hair isnt bad either, you may notice a bit of diffuse thinning when my hair is like a #2 guard, but when i grow it out a bit longer you cant notice. Hairline is pretty good too. I've always been confident and like i said ive been doing the same daily routine like 2 years and i was on finasteride for the last of those years. I've always felt great physically before finasteride as im only 22 years old, but after months on Propecia i started feeling like total garbage and the side effects i mentioned in my first post. So i went for a physical a few months back and everything was great. Anyways ive been off if finasteride and im back to my good old self. So i KNOW it was the culprit in my case.

Did you know that the increase in estrogen form finasteride or dutasteride interfere's with Progesterone?

My last comment in this thread is reas this thread, it may help you guys out!

hairhaircomeagain, possibly...... i hope so. That and keeping estrogen from rising while on finasteride or dutasteride. Im going to try to keep estrogen at mid levels while possibly re-trying dutasteride and using Progesterone cream. Check out that link i put up to my thread at the other forum. If you have questions it would be better to post them there as i dont know too much this stuff and i'd like to learn more info myself!

If decreasing 5-ar levels causes brain fog, you really would expect the people doing the trials to have come forward to say something about it. Nothing however. I don't think it's even mentioned amongst the side effects.

Because you are male and inhibiting an importan hormone like DHT will induce a difference in both physical and psychological functions.
It could just be the difference before and after taking finasteride and you could very well be mistaking it for Brain Fog.

Even now i am expereincing brain fog but when i sleep, eat well and take multivitamins, it helps. Looking at my ownself Now i do know that finasteride has no effect on the brain

Dutasteride inhibits 5AR in the brain.

true, there is clearly evidence that a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor on both types 1 & 2, can have an influence on the brain, mainly because type 1 is important for brain funcioning. Finasteride only influences type 2, so it's much more likely to experience brain fog on dutasteride than on finasteride, but who knows, maybe there are still other unknown factors contributing...

I aree finasteride inuduces a Iniital side effect of depression in some but inhibitng Type 2 DHT does not most likely cause any brain disfunctioning.

If u are prone to Brain Fog , it happens even if u do not take finasteride or Dust.
