Liquids and the affectiveness of Finasteride

My question is...does what you wash your pill down with affect the effect of Finasteride? I did a quick search online and came up with this...

How do you guys typically take it? Im thinking taking it on an empty stomach with water is the best way to get the full potential?

If I remember correctly, both finasteride and dutasteride are metabolized by CYP3A4 (one of the cytochrome P450 enzymes), so taking Propecia or Avodart with grapefruit juice will actually increase the bioavailability of those drugs. I've never heard of any evidence that some specific food element will decrease their effect.
