In this article http://www.nobreastcyst.com/phyto.html plants that mimic estrogens are mentioned. Youve seen many of these ingredients in anti-DHT shampoos, etc. Some of these substances mimic estrogen and can competitively bind to androgen receptors along with male hormones. Some, like beer, contain things like genistien and daidzien and lessen the amount of androgen recpeptors if you use alot of it internally (therefore you might be able to use less of it topically).

Here is the list within the article:

Avoid Coffee, Decaffinated Coffee, and Beer
Avoid Sunflower Seeds, Red Clover Tea, Camomille Tea, Alfalfa Sprouts, Queen Anne's lace (wild carrot), Pomegranate, Fennel, Fenugreek, Licorice, Red Clover, Yucca, Hops (Beer) and Motherwort.
Avoid Phytoestrogens that block and interfere with the action of Natural Progesterone. Avoid Bloodroot, Ocotillo, Mandrake, Oregano, Damiana, Pennyroyal, Verbenna, Nutmeg, Tumeric, Yucca, Thyme, Calamus rt., Red Clover, Goldenseal, Licorice, Mistletoe, Cumin, Fennel, Camomille, Cloves.

No Sunflower Oil, No Safflower Oil, and No Cotton Seed Oil.

No Tea Tree Oil. No Lavender Oil

Perhaps that's why the beer and olive oil topical works for some? If beer topically binds to the androgen receptors, it gives testosterone and DHT no place to bind.

The article gave me a few ideas of topicals to try. tea tree oil & lavender oil are going to be on my Christmas wish list. :)

Good find MB.

Everything in the list is anti-androgenic to a degree.

Hops in the beer is what is most anti-androgenic in it. There is also isoflavone genistien and daidzien in beer in small amounts-----the soya isoflavones. Gensistein gets roughy a 40% reduction in androgen receptors in localized areas if there is enough of it (retin A, vitamin B6 in its pyrixidione form, and tochopherol or the correct form of vitamin E, also lessen receptor expression in targeted areas). Barley pronathocyandines have been shown to inhibit a negative growth factor associated with hair, TGF-beta one also, and act as a stimulant by blocking it---140% relative to controls.

So yeah, beer is obviously good for hair. Alchohol (beer and bourbon) has long been known to have an "feminizing effect" on men: less body hair, head hair slowing or stopping its fallout (look at those homeless drunks and you'll find many have strangely good hair for their relative conditions). We know now that there is beta sitostorol in bourbon, and its probably the strongest phyto estrogen there is. It acts like estrogen and sits on androgen receptors, preventing uptake of androgen. However, its not known how long the effect lasts. 2 hours, 10 hours, 4 hours, etc. I wonder what the topical application of bourbon would do for head vs. body hair if applied every 6 hours or so?

These are the kinds of things that I'd like to see tested, but will never get tested unless a lot of us just do it ourselves. I know pine oil will decrease body hair and revivogen will decrease it also. Ive tried them on myself.

did you put the revivogen on your arm or somewhere on your body directly? if it reduces body hair then there is a really really good chance it will influence growth on the scalp.....
