That website has gone GHOST. The last post was months ago. It's good to see that this website is king now!

I like this site and Reddit's hair loss subreddit. However, the Reddit site is filled with A LOT of anti Finasteride posters. Kind of gets annoying after a while....

Hair Loss Help used to have some good stuff too, but it is also very very dead now.

You know if we have a perfect 100 percent solution to male pattern baldness maybe we could close all these forums. If a complete male pattern baldness cure came out tomorrow though, but it cost a ton what would happen to existing treatments like propecia? If the amount of men on propecia dropped a lot would they stop making it, and then everyone on it just goes bald anyway?
If I was on propecia, and a cure came out tomorrow id stay on propecia just out of costs.

I really miss hairlosshelp too. Not many regulars decided to make new accounts, especially finasteride users.

I find it improbable because
- hairloss must come from different gene mutations. Otherwise Dht reduction would work for everyone. It does not work for me.
- even "infinite" hair transplant after hair multiplication will have the issues of: shock Loss, correct timing.

If we’re to be fair, we should confess that the adamant pro-finasteride posters can be equally annoying.

I'm admittedly one of them. The reason is that finasteride works for the vast majority of guys but all forums are heavily biased towards those that can't take it and non-responders. The only reason I stick around is remind the newbies that it does work quite often. Sorry if it's annoying, but my main motivation is to prevent new users from blowing off finasteride like I almost did because they aren't around long enough to realize this.

If users of finasteride generally 'stuck around' as much as other users I wouldn't feel the need to be so vocal about it. In biased but at least honest about it and my rationale

This makes sense.
I also feel that in forums we mostly have people for whom finasteride hasn't been a solution.
Either that, or success rates for finasteride have been inflated from day one.

I'm a heavy believer in proven science so I try to brush off notions that finasteride is ineffective or any kind of fabrication. It helps that I have first hand photographic evidence over 5 years that it isn't the case. Finasteride is very effective, for most of us that start early enough it's basically a cure.

"The cure for baldness" makes a good headline but the truth is around 90% of us have had it for more than a decade in the form of finasteride. I can sympathize for those where it isn't but for the vast majority of those that come to hairloss forums early it is basically curative. If more men would realize this baldness would become a rare disfigurement.

Reminds me of "variolation" in the days before a smallpox vaccine was available. Millions died needlessly without it for decades. Some died from it, and for some it didn't work, but for the vast majority it was basically a cure for smallpox. Finasteride has a similar track record
