Looking for new treatments

Hi,

I've been using Proscar (1/4 pill per day) with Avodart (1 pill per week) combined with Lipogaine (1mL, 5% minoxidil) in the morning and DualGen 15 with PG (15% minoxidil, 0,1% Finasteride, 5% Azelaic Acid) in the evening.
I started using 5% minoxidil in July 2010 (~5 years now) and Finasteride/Dustasteride in August 2012 (~ for 3 years).

I'm losing my hairline since I'm 19 (24 now) and despite using the treatments mentionned above it's getting worse (I'm between Norwood 1 and 2) specially in the middle of my hairline where I've a really annoying bald spot growing like this : (http://0.tqn.com/w/experts/Hair-Loss-1012/2011/11/bald-spot_1.jpg).

I've reduced the dosage of minoxidil (IMO it doesn't have any effect anymore), I only use 1,5mL of lipogaine once a day for 2 days then 1,5mL of DualGen the third day. I intend to stop DualGen since it's very likely a scam.

So if you guys know good treatments that could help my hairline, please let me know ! ;)

That spot in the middle is really odd, never seen that before. Overall though, after 5 years of treatment your hair looks to be in excellent condition thickness wise, good going. I would say forget about perfection if your maintaining that much, you should be happy with your results.

It's not me on the pic, but I've the same bald spot.

I tried RU last year (5% with KB vehicle, 1mL every morning) but I had to stop after 3 months because it gave me eye floaters :/

I didn't notice any improvements in my hairline while using it.

You've been using finasteride AND dutasteride at the same time? You definitely shouldn't be doing that, as they are both DHT blockers, so it is both unnecessary and possibly dangerous. I recommend sticking with one (like finasteride) and using it consistently.

I agree that you should throw out all the other "medications" you've been using, except for minoxidil, which is known to be effective and is actually FDA-approved. You don't have to take a thousand different medications, just choose one, two, or maybe three and use them consistently, as they will work synergistically to slow down hair loss through different mechanisms.

If you are looking for other treatments besides the finasteride and minoxidil, I know that low-level laser therapy (LLLT) has some scientific evidence supporting its effectiveness. 2% ketoconazole shampoo also seems to suppress DHT activity in the scalp and promote hair growth (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12227482). I discuss the scientific research done on these methods in my blog (https://attackplan.wordpress.com/2016/02/27/helpful/).

Regarding the tiny bald spot in the front that you mentioned, if after using two or more of these tools consistently for at least 6 months, you still don't see any positive effects, that simply means that that particular spot on your head does not contain any surviving hair follicles. If there were surviving hairs, the treatments should regenerate those hairs after six months. However, the treatments cannot work on areas where there are no hairs. In that case, you would need to get a hair transplant to "fill in" that spot, or simply cover it up with nearby hair.
