How is everyone doing?
I am 22 and I used to have hair down past my shoulders for most of high school. In the last year of HS I found my hair getting oily like half way through the day and a lot was falling out when I combed it in the morning. It really thinned out. I chopped it down to a shaggy look which was still pretty decent thickness and not noticably thin, and about a year later cut it short and spiked it throughout college.
I started using minoxidil about 2 years ago with the 2%. It was on and off for some times here and there due to availability and finances, but in the last couple months I started using 5% and have been using it consistently once every day for the last 4-5 months or so.
I have stopped using nizerol a few months back because I realize it made my scalp oily about half way through the day which made my hair look very very thin. Since I stopped using it, I've eliminated that problem.
What I am getting to, is recently I had my hair grown out since the fall, and last week I chopped it off and have it short again. This time around it looks like it is thinner than ever before and I'm destined to loose my hair. I am a diffuse thinner by the way. I have noticed some regrowth on the minoxidil however. I am able to just wear it short and to family and close friends no one has commented on the thinness, but it's eating away at me and I don't know how much longer I will be able to hold it for. Last two weeks I've noticed an increase in shedding, maybe it is a phase I'm going through?
I am thinking about shaving my head and continuing the treatment to hope for the best. I've never had a shaved head before and I spend a lot of time feeling the shape of my head and holding my hair back in the mirror trying to get a feel for how I'll look, but its a real gamble, there's just no way to be sure until I do it.
Any advise or things you can pick up on about my treatment and what I'm experiencing to help?
Thanks.
