I really want to make a thread where all we do is edit pictures of Tsuji.

I suggest that in 2017 we all use Tsuji as an avatar

I think that there's a slim chance that Tsuji's technology could hit the market in 2019.

First of all, they claim they have one last issue to resolve BUT they also say they believe they have
the path forward in regards to that very issue. They will have to test that to be sure but that should
only take months. And not a lot of months.

If testing shows they have the solution to that one obstacle then they could start human
tests in 2017. Japan allows cell based treatments into the marketplace after just 2 human trials.
Time would be very tight but it might be possible for the treatment to be in the market duing 2019.
Maybe they're just saying 2020 to give themselves a little extra room.

I wonder what their obstacle is.

Underpromise and overdeliver, maybe?

They aren't saying 2019 because its not a 'Manhattan Project' kind of deal. It's not a huge group of madly committed people all working 24/7/365 to make something happen.

Every time a HM company puts something into trials the guys on forums start dreaming up uber-idealistic timelines. Real life does not work like that.

After a major step the researchers will be "tallying the results" and "doing the paperwork" . . . and pretty soon 6 months will have gone by before another step even gets taken. Etc. That is real life.

Yeah, I sincerely doubt that this will be available at any point in 2019 given that they said in the interview that human trials start in 2018, which means they are likely organizing things ahead of time regardless of when they sort out the epithelial cells.

Wait, I thought it was supposed to be available in 2018? This is the Shiseido thing, right? Are you telling me it's not coming in a couple years after all? ASDAHAWEHAWEHA

Tsuji's treatment is, as per the last interview a few months ago, on track for 2020 in Japan. Shiseido's could be released in 2018.

Naysayers are convinced it will take eons yet, for some bizarre reason. Either way, it will be a long time before you can get these treatments outside of Japan, so I hope you have a valid passport.

Oh yeah, I have filled multiple passports over the years. Been living most of my adult life overseas. I've been to Japan before, and I will f*****g swim or hide in a shipping vessel to get back if I have to. Can you explain briefly what the difference is between Tsuji and Shiseido? I thought Shiseido was also about culturing cells taken from a biopsy to inject into the scalp to induce growth.

Can you explain briefly what the difference is between Tsuji and Shiseido? I thought Shiseido was also about culturing epithelial cells to inject into the scalp as some kind of growth factor.

Tsuji's "Primordium Method" takes two kinds of stem cells (mesenchymal and epithelial) from a biopsy and places the two of them in 3 dimensions within a substance that essentially mimics the conditions before birth. When these cells are ready, they are injected or otherwise installed in the skin and give rise to a new hair.

Shiseido's method involves taking dermal-sheath-cup cells from a biopsy and multiplying them. Then, they are injected back into the scalp in balding areas. Since the biopsy is taken from the back of the scalp, it is expected that these cells will migrate to the follicles and rejuvenate them with an immunity to DHT. The stretch goal is that it may also promote new growth. Similar methods like the one Aderans was developing were successful in stopping further hair loss, but they stopped funding the project.

In short, Tsuji's method could make a NW7 go back to NW1 whereas Shiseido's could stop you from going bald any further and may possibly give you some new hair.

This is really depressing. What was all the hypo about Shiseido curing baldness for then? I thought in the video I saw where they explained the process they made it sound like it would be stimulating a lot of hair growth. I guess I'm screwed then for at least "5 more years". I won't have any hair by then.
