Dr.Paul McAndrews...he is in Pasadena and his website is hairgrowthdoctor.com. He is really nice and his receptionists are as well.

re: hairgrowthdoctor.com

thanks, sundevilb3, but i'm not looking for a transplant just yet. probably just looking for a general practitioner who's hip to hair loss, could prescribe dutasteride, and not push towards a transplant. anyone have a recommendation? come on, i live in the vainest city on earth--i can't be the only one here!

most insurance won't do you any good unless your insurance covers drugs prescribed for hair loss.

How about Dr Lee? He's in Whittier.

insurance would just be for the visit itself. i figure if it was a regular check-up plus, i could at least get that covered.

is this the dr. lee of all the potions and lotions?

Yes the same. He does give scripts for propecia though, although he will not prescribe avodart for you.

No, not "potions". Dr Lee is, just as you say, a dermatologist who is very much "up" on the science of hairloss.

He does sell minoxidil, he's most well known for his low-PPG minoxidil that dries in minutes and is a product that many on this forum use. He also sells some "designer minoxidil" with some additives that not everyone on this forum agrees with when it comes to proven efficacy. Nevertheless, I don't think that anyone would doubt his general knowledge of the science of hairloss, and he's a very kind man who has always been generous in answering any and every question that I've had via email on various facets of the hairloss equation.

Dr. McAndrews will not push a transplant on you. He prefers to use the medicinal approach first and use transplant as a last resort given the finite nature of it. He does this especially with young guys like me.

maybe mcandrews does sound good, thanks. anyone, though, who'd perscribe dutasteride? after 10 months with no apparent change on finasteride (though i do swear that my hair is darkening) i'm debating on switching to dutasteride.

317 views and only two doctors recommended? maybe there's some underground finasteride and dutasteride market here in LA, like some oranges you buy on the side of the road actually contain male pattern baldness drugs. man, that would be sweet.
