Thanks. I've done a bit more research of it since and I can't say I'm overly impressed. While there may be some alleged DHT blocking properties in nizoral, it's apparently an incredibly small amount so you're still risking your hair to 90% (I made the figure up) of the other nasty chemicals in nizoral.

In any case, nizoral remains to me incredibly overrated.

Did you follow the link to the Japansese study, i thought the results where very impressive? Even if the sample size was small.

How much of this is down to DHT inhibition i don't know, and it was done with a cream using Nizoral cream rather than the shampoo, which i personally can't tolerate.

For people over the age of 21 i still think Nizoral is 3rd place by a long way.

Maybe you should post some pics so people on here can assess whether you are actually balding or not.
If the nurse said you aren't, then maybe you aren't. You may be panicking about nothing.

Did your doctor give you a prescription?

I'm always worried about ed, etc.

And for the first week of using it i did get testicular soreness, but it got much better.

I may have experienced slight shrinkage in the testicles.

In my opinion, its worth it. As long as side effects don't get any worse than they are now.

Yes, it was proscribed by my doctor.

And my hairloss would not even be considered severe. Its just that at my age its very uncommon. I am almost an NW2A with moderate diffuse.

Okay thanks for the reply, when people talk about side effects for people under the age of 21 , they're not referring to a loss of libido or erectile dysfunction, it's more the fact that certainly under the age of 18 for a lot of people puberty isn't over and propecia is untested in this area, so that would be my area of concern.

Well yes i do worry about that all the time, but ive sort of ruled it out in my mind. For example I still have a narrowish shoulder span and almost no beard.

But I would much rather maintain a decent head of hear for years to come than to be a little broader with a full beard. I know, you could potentially mess up internal developments of the body and that scares me to death, but my doctor agreed that I should stick with finasteride until any noticeable sides occur and go for physicals, get blood tests, check all the hormone levels, etc.

But for now I'm sticking with finasteride.

Well i was a stick at 16 broader shoulders came a couple of years later, It's good your being totally honest on the boards, I don't know what i've had done had i been in your circumstances at that age, I advise against it, but I know that if it were my life there's a chance i'd still go for it , being a bit of a risk taker.

Hmm , thanks for the replies, I've been busy and I can't seem to find a good site where they sell Nizoral , can I get this prescribed by a doctor and get it from a local pharmacist?

I'm not sure where you are from but if you're from the US then you can pick it up in Walmart, If you're Canadian the costco have it.

I don't know if that's just the 1% strength stuff though, 2% might be restricted.

If you're in the UK I used to get 2% off the shelf in Sainsburys (other supermarkets are available), it's quietly tucked away next to the head and shoulders.

I really don't see any reason why the 1% stuff would be restricted in other countries.

Is finasteride okay to take once you turn 18? Cause I started on my 18th birthday and haven't really noticed any side effects at all. I'm 18 and a half now. Do you think I should stop? I was done growing at age 15 just so you know.
