Hi I am turning 30 soon. I think I started loosing my hair about 25. But I was in denial about it. Anyway I am really bald now. It seems in the last couple I have lost heaps of hair. I only just recently tried Proscar 1/4 (1.25mg) and with in 3 months I got the sexual side effects. I read a bit more and seen how dangerous it was. So I quit taking it. I was thinking about taking avodart and taking about a one 5mg tablet one a week. I was also considering getting a hair transplant but I was uncertain about how you keep the remaining hair follicles.

I actually don't mind shaving it to a zero I sort of suit it but sometimes I think damn this is the only style I will get for the rest of my life apart from that bald look. I used to have fun with my hair and did all sorts of styles and coloring. I suppose my question is should I go back on medication with a lower dose. I am also a bit concerned about the cost of maintaining a bald scalp for the rest of my life considering right now I don't have a job. Also I feel in my scalp that my hair is being rejected and there is all this flaky skin and inflammation.

Any advice would be great.

Describe the side effects more, please. It's hard to give out advice without knowing what you got.

If you got sides from propecia, i wouldn't touch avodart its a little more hardcore than propecia is and works in the same way by blocking more DHT and both forms of it.
Have you considers tapering in your propecia usage at a lower dose to see if you can tolerate it, plenty of guys who had sides of 1mg tolerate 0.5mg well. Maybe try taking a 1mg tablet every other day for a bit and build it up to every day.
