Hi guys, to keep it short:

- December 2012: noticed slight temple thinning, didnt worry me a bit, hairline moved back at the temples maybe half a centimetre, nothing really noticeable changed until:

- February 2013: Suddenly, one morning, I had a shower got out and combed my hair and must've lost 50 hairs in my comb, looked into the shower drain and there were dozens more. I never noticed losing more that 5 hairs a day before this point, even literally THE DAY BEFORE I was losing no more hair than normal, it's like someone turned on a hairloss switch.

- at the time I didn't know that loss from the sides of the head as well as on top likely isn't male pattern baldness, I bought some propecia and since it has regrown my hairline but hasn't helped with the diffuse loss

- This has led me to believe the initial temple loss was male pattern baldness, whatever happened from feb onwards isn't.

Another thing that may be relevant is that I have a very red scalp and my hair gets very oily, I couldn't get away with not showering every morning. My scalp doesn't itch much, maybe a bit.

I'm at my wits end with this. I'm only 20, no one loses any hair in my family until their double my age, I HATE not knowing what's causing it, I'm gonna try and visit a derm when my university exams are over but I don't have the time, until then I was wondering if anyone has any ideas?

Added a picture, it doesn't really do the thinning justice, my hairline looks fine to me but its just so thin all over.

Opinions?

Hmm, thanks for the suggestion mate but I doubt there's any scientific basis to mustard oil helping my hair and I haven't worn a cap in years.

Could be stress, I would also just go to a doctor make sure your not sick, have some tests.

First thing I'm gonna do after exams, it's weird because before my hairloss started I think I was in the happiest stage of my life, definitely not stressed in the slightest, so I'm thinking maybe it's some underlying hormonal problem/thyroid etc..

Any more opinions?

I have to be honest to you, this kind of hair lass has nothing to do with stress, I have a very similar hair loss ( diffuse pattern) and believe it or not, Im the only balding member in the entire family.... Im sure that I inherited the gene directly from my mom as all my uncles have hair (mother side and father side too!) but my mom lost/is losing hair in a diffuse pattern very similar to you and me, your only hope is to take finasteride (propecia) and minixodil, I do really wish good results to your hair.
